There were two major improvements, in 1954 when the public-private partnership, Zhong Jiefu handed over the square of the eight treasure cakes to the food factory for production, and there were five grain worms in the eight treasure cakes of Zhong Jiefu at the beginning, but because it was very troublesome to process, so when it was handed over to the food factory, the five grain worms were removed, and the second improvement was in the Xitang Food Factory, Zhong Jiefu originally used the white rice that was the millet seed in the north, and later changed it to barley kernels.

We beat all these herbs into powder and mixed them with pure glutinous rice. Put some syrup, mix it initially, and then rub it hard, and after rubbing it on the tip of your finger, it is a molded eight-treasure cake. Scrape the powder flat, then compact it, then cut it into strips. Use a caliper to specify its size, then put it on a steamer and steam it for about five minutes. After the cake is out of the pan, we keep it warm for one night and then cut it the next morning. Why keep warm for one night? Because to make its whole cake fluffy, after swelling, it is relatively soft to cut. Finally, the cut eight treasure cakes are pushed loose, and after the loosening, they are wrapped in paper and put in the bellows, baked at low temperature for 24 hours, and taken out is the finished product.
