The Tang Dynasty poet Chen Ziang was a native of Sichuan, and his surviving poems totaled more than 100 poems, with a strong wind and bones, far-reaching meaning, and vigorous and powerful, which influenced generations of poets. A few days ago, young scholars Li Baoshan and Hu Liang edited "On Chen Ziang: Dedication poems, papers and chronology" published by Chengdu Times Publishing House. The book was published in two years, and consisted of three volumes, the first volume is dedicated poems, including 96 poems written to Chen Ziang by 60 poets such as Feng Zhi, Yu Guangzhong, Luo Fu, Wang Jiaxin, Geng Zhanchun, Song Lin, Zang Di, Chen Xianfa, and Xi Du; the second volume is a treatise, which includes 16 papers on Chen Ziang by 16 scholars such as Chen Shangjun, Bao Pengshan, Liu Chaoqian, and Gan Shengtong, covering Chen Ziang's life, thoughts, poetry, and influence research; volume THREE is an chronology, which contains 1 copy of Li Baoshan's newly compiled Chen Ziang chronology, and 3 appendages of Chen Ziang's biographical materials at the end of the book.
The book is both academic and poetic, bringing together the latest and most important research achievements of contemporary scholars on Chen Ziang, and presenting the cross-temporal spiritual dialogue between contemporary poets and Chen Ziang, which has attracted attention as soon as it was published. Today (January 3), Red Star News reporters talked to Hu Liang to discuss the wonderful content of the book.
Red Star News: Why do such a big project to pay tribute to Chen Ziang?
Hu Liang: First, the importance of Chen Ziang himself, he is a figure in the early Tang Dynasty poetry and the Sheng Tang poetry, Li Bai and Du Fu were greatly influenced by Chen Ziang, and he opened a generation of poetry. Secondly, about our two editors, Li Baoshan is a Sichuan Shehong person, I am a Sichuan Pengxi person, both of which are considered to be Chen Ziang's hometown. Faced with a sage and a sage, the two of us decided to work together on this subject. Third, last year, Chen Ziang was named the second batch of historical celebrities in Sichuan Province. In this context, in order to let more people know and know Chen Ziang, we spent two years before and after, and the final effect was very shocking.
Red Star News: What can the publication of "About Chen Ziang" bring to this society?
Hu Liang: To be honest, I don't know what this book can bring to society. Perhaps, perhaps this book will prove these two sentences again: Qu Ping's resignation is endowed with the sun and the moon, and the Chu king Tai Xie empty hills. Who knows where king Chu's palace is, no one knows, but Qu Yuan's words are forever, hanging high like the sun and the moon.
Red Star News: The "Dedication to Poetry" section is a dialogue between Poets of the Tang Dynasty and poets of today. "Dialogue between ancient and modern times" seems to be an important topic in the poetry world, so why should we talk to the ancients?
Hu Liang: There are 60 contemporary poets who have written nearly 100 new poems for Chen Ziang, because due to the limitation of space, there are many poets who have not had time to collect new poems, presenting a very spectacular spiritual dialogue between contemporary poets and Chen Ziang across time and space. This kind of dialogue is a very moving cultural scene. When it comes to new poetry, for a hundred years, there has been a disease of migraine, that is, western-centric new poetry. A hundred years later, we should go back and take a good look at classical Chinese poetry. From the past Dialogue between China and the West to the dialogue between ancient and modern times, only in this way can new poetry be more perfect and grow healthily, and new poetry can truly become the identity mark of Chinese culture. We need to inherit and carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture, so that the excellent traditional culture shines more charmingly in the new poems.
Red Star News: "Dedication to Poetry" includes the works of many poetry generals, including Yu Guangzhong, Feng Zhi, Wang Jiaxin, Geng Zhanchun, etc., why do they write poems to pay tribute to Chen Ziang?
Hu Liang: There may be two reasons, one is that Suining has held the Suining International Poetry Award in recent years, and poets from all over the world have come to Suining to hang Chen Ziang's tomb, and they have a feeling, so they have left a lot of poems to pay tribute to Chen Ziang. The second is that the talent and short and tortuous fate from Chen Ziang constitute a highly disproportionate contrast, which just evokes the inner resonance of many poets.
Red Star News: "Papers" includes the latest research on Chen Ziang's papers, what are the new contents?
Hu Liang: This section, compiled by Li Baoshan, contains a total of 16 articles by 16 scholars, which study Chen Ziang's life, thought and influence. There are very few historical materials about Chen Ziang, there are many doubts in his life, and there is also a great controversy in the academic community. Now, through the perseverance of scholars, Chen Ziang's life will be more clearly presented to us. At the same time, this part has made a more in-depth study of Chen Ziang's literary achievements and influence, which can be said to further establish Chen Ziang's position in the history of Chinese poetry.
Red Star News: What can we learn by looking at the "annals" now?
Hu Liang: This part is a new almanac made by Li Baoshan, and on the basis of absorbing many predecessors, Li Baoshan himself examined and studied it, and finally drafted such a new almanac. I personally believe that it is a more credible and complete presentation of Chen Ziang's life.
