Huang Hua's memory | 1939, Li Cun Elementary School also had a basketball team

This old photo is a group photo of the basketball team organized by the Licun Primary School in Xinhai County (now Huanghua City) in the 28th year of the Republic of China (now Huanghua City). The photo was provided by Dai Qirun, the son of Dai Jiayu (sitting in the front row second from right).

Born in 1927, Dai joined the Communist Party in September 1949. His ancestral home was Li Village, and later moved to Wang Fuzhuang in Qing County. This photograph bears the hardships of Dai Jiayu's generation and inscribes the childlike fun of their young minds; Dai Jiayu studied hard in the cold window of Licun Primary School for two years, giving him the foundation of traditional culture and the sentiment of the national spirit, and also laying excellent seeds for future engagement in the party's cause and participation in revolution and construction.

Eternal moments

One day in the first month of 1939, at noon, the teacher called Dai Jiayu and a few classmates in the class to stay, telling everyone that There was a photo in Xinhai County, and the school was ready to take a picture of everyone in the name of the basketball team. None of the students had ever seen a photo, let alone taken a picture, and they all felt fresh and excited.

The costumes worn during the photo are sad to spoil Dai Jiayu. When Dai Jiayu went to school, her mother was afraid that Dai Jiayu was frozen, so she made a so-called robe and let him wear it as a dress during the day and cover his feet at night. Dai Jiayu thought to himself, "Can't take photos in such a big cotton jacket like a hundred coats, this is not like a basketball player?" In a hurry, Dai Jiayu found his classmate Yan Guotong and changed a cotton jacket with him to put on. As can be seen from the photo, the sleeves of the cotton jacket worn by Dai Jiayu are slightly longer, and there are obvious traces left by wiping his mouth or wiping his nose, which is consistent with the fact that the placket is also filthy, but this is much stronger than his robe after all.

In the photo, two teachers standing in robes are called Yu Tiyun on the left and Dai Guofu on the right. In the middle row, from left to right are Yu Shizhen, Zhao Yongrui, Yu Hao, Yu Yunpeng, Cheng Wentian (Tongju Village). In the front row, from left to right, are Dai Qiujiang, Wang Jindian (Xiaoke Niu Village), Dai Xujiang, Dai Jiayu, and Dai Zengrui (people who do not indicate the village are all from Licun Town). Two small pennants read "Xinhai County Administrative Bureau Li Cun Primary School Basketball Team".

Dai Jiayu's father, Dai Yuanyi, went to Yan'an in 1937 and wrote to him asking for the handwriting and photographs he had written. Thinking of this, Dai Jiayu fiercely asked for a photo from the one who took the photo.

In the autumn of 1939, Dai Jiayu ended his two-year study life, took this group photo of the basketball team, and left Licun Primary School with pity, and the short learning childhood of his life was forever fixed in this old photo.

Lee Village Old School

The school where Dai Jiayu went to school followed the old school built at the end of the Qing Dynasty, which was an old village school with a Qing-style building. Under the background of the Heavenly King Hall, it looks very grand. In the front, there is the sound of Lang reading aloud, children's voices are childish; after that, there is a pleasant sound, incense is swirling, and there is a different mood.

The house behind this photo is the main house of the school with five rooms, three steps, the front out of the building, and six pillars standing under the front eaves. In the middle, behind the photo, is the teacher's office, and to the left and right are four classrooms. The entire row of houses except for the east and west houses is a solid wall, the rest are made of wooden frames, ridged and tiled. Above the south waist wall, all are lintel doors and windows pasted with window paper, don't look at the dilapidated appearance, but still show the grandeur of the year.

The school is a quadrangle, with four east and west wings, a classroom on each side, and the rest of the houses are used as storage for goods and for the school keepers. In addition to a gate hole, there is also a large classroom in the south room, which is a kindergarten class that has just entered the school. On the main gate of the school hangs the sign of "Xinhai Zhi bureau Li Cun Primary School", and on the two gates, there are couplets of "cultivating national essence" and "shaping talents". The two dragon claw locust trees in front of the school gate are very luxuriant. Seventy or eighty meters to the south of the school gate, there is a soil polder about two meters high, and willow trees are planted in a row. At that time, the pure land of the school was also filled with the blood of war. At that time, Huanghuawa was sparsely populated, and bandits were often infested. The earthen polder in front of the school is part of the fortifications.

The school has three primary and secondary classes and high primary classes of junior A, junior B and junior C, which are called two-level schools. There are about 200 students in the school, there are six teachers, the school director is called Dai Yi, the principal is called Dai Lianzhen, but the real principal of the school is called Rufuye.

The bitterness of the cold window

LiCun has been an important town on the north-south passage along the coast of Cangzhou since ancient times. According to the Cangzhou Chronicle of the eighth year of Qianlong (1743 AD), in the first year of Qianlong, Cangzhou resumed the inspection department, and there were two inspectors under it, who were stationed in Mengcun and Licun. At that time, Licun Town had jurisdiction over 118 coastal villages from cohabitation and juguan in the north to Kongjiadian and Junma Station in the south.

A square crossroads in the center of Licun Town divides the town into four streets: east, west, south and north. In addition to the shops on each street, the four corners of the intersection are the shop names of the four big people, the northwest corner is the "Tongxing" grocery store, the southwest corner is the "Tongsheng" grocery store, the northeast corner is the "Baohua Lou" hardware, and the southeast corner is the "Baorong" fruit candy store. To the west are the names of "Tonghe" and "Tongchun", and there is also the two-story "Qianyiheng". The cart shop on cross street north to south provides food and accommodation for passing people and horses. At that time, Licun was an important town on the north-south road, and its economic prosperity was evident from this. The Wang family butcher shop, just a hundred meters south of the intersection, sits on the west and faces the east, opposite the Pan family on the east side of the street.

By 1935, Song Zheyuan, commander of the Kuomintang 29th Army, had built the first highway in Huanghua territory, the Yijinyan Highway, which passed through the east of Licun Village. This not only marks that the traffic roads here have entered the era of dirt roads that can be driven by cars, bringing new development opportunities to Licun Town, but also showing the status of Licun as an important north-south traffic town.

Dai Jiayu's grandfather was named Dai Zhongtai, who was born in the late Qing Dynasty. In order to "have clothes to wear and food to eat," he joined Li Hongzhang's Sheng Zi Army, and with his efforts, he grew from an ordinary soldier to a battalion officer with "six or seven hundred brave soldiers." In 1894, he was ordered to go abroad to participate in the Battle of Pyongyang against the Japanese invasion of Korea. Later, due to the Qing army retreating without a fight, the Sino-Japanese War was defeated miserably. Dai Zhongtai was full of patriotic enthusiasm and was forced to return to Wang Fuzhuang's hometown.

Dai Jiayu's father, Dai Yuanyi, was born in 1899. Since childhood, he witnessed the poverty of the country and the bullying of the great powers, engaged in revolutionary and progressive activities from 1930, joined the Communist Party of China in Tianjin in 1935 through the introduction of Comrade Peng Zhen, and was ordered to Yan'an in 1937. He followed the central government from Yan'an to northwestern Jin, from northwestern Jin to Xibaipo, and then from Xibaipo to Beiping. He successively served as the deputy director of the Administrative Department and the Secretariat of the Central Organization Department, the administrative director of the Ministry of Textile Industry, and the senior supervisor of the Central People's Supervision Commission, and retired from illness in 1954.

Dai Jiayu grew up in bitter water since childhood, worked hard since childhood, and was deeply influenced by his grandfather and father. When he was young, the circumstances of his family did not provide him with the ability to go to school. Before Dai Yuanyi went to Yan'an, he asked his relatives and friends to give him care and love, so that Dai Jiayu had the honor of entering the school gate of Licun Academy. In fact, Dai Jiayu had also read the private school of Winter and Spring Moon before. Private schools in the old days were very different from modern schools. It is a private teaching place set up by the family, clan or teacher under the feudal system, generally only one teacher, and there is no certain teaching material and learning time limit. The private school in the winter and spring is a relatively junior private school, and Mr. Is also a non-professional, and he must also cultivate and teach, so he only teaches when he is idle, which is still an enlightenment education.

In the spring of 1937, Dai Jiayu went to Study in Li Village, nearly twenty miles away from Wang Fuzhuang, when he was only 10 years old and needed to live in Li Village. The family borrowed a car, pulled firewood, grain and rice, and accompanied them to Li Village by their mother.

Although Li Cun was Dai Jiayu's grandmother's family, his mother's parents died when she was young, and the only elder brother also fled to the northeast, and the two of them lived in the home of a distant concubine of Dai Jiaju.

When Dai Jiayu first entered Li Cun School, he read the second book of the first grade, and later Rufu Ye saw that the writing he wrote on the stone slab was correct, and felt that there was still potential, so he let the transfer class read the fourth book with the second grade. Dai Jiayu took the first place in the final exam, successfully advanced to the third grade, and received the fifth new book of the third grade.

In that year, the sound of gunfire at the Lugou Bridge interrupted his father's studies. With the retreat of the Twenty-ninth Army, the Licun School was discontinued. To tell the truth, at this time, the family could no longer afford to provide firewood for the two women. In this way, Dai Jiayu led the new book back to Wang Fuzhuang. Young Dai Jiayu worked hard at home while reading hard, often carrying books when he went to the ground, and when he rested, he used the ground as paper and firewood as a pen to study in the fields. Where I don't understand, I use the gap between work to consult my brothers of the same race. Coupled with the hard study with his brothers of the same clan in Winter and March, he basically completed all the courses in the third grade of primary school. In the spring of 1938, the family tightened his belt and sent him to Licun Primary School, which had resumed classes. Because the cost of accompanying the mother to study was too high, the family could not afford it, so they had to go to Rufuye's house to study.

Until the autumn of 1939, when the land was flooded and the crops were not harvested, Dai Jiayu was forced to end his two-year study life before and after Licun Primary School, taking this group photo of the basketball team and leaving Licun Primary School with a good chance.

He later joined the revolution in 1948 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1949. He successively served in many communes and townships in Qingxian County, serving as the president of the party school of the county party committee, the deputy director of the planning commission, the secretary of the party committee of the county direct organ, and the deputy director of the organization of the county party committee, and left in 1989.
