The National Speed Skating Hall "Ice Ribbon" is a new venue specially built for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the main venue has a construction area of about 80,000 square meters, a height of 33 meters, and can accommodate about 12,000 spectators, and will hold a speed skating competition. Whether it is construction technology, construction speed, or technology application, the ice ribbon reflects the current highest level of China's construction industry, and also set a record for several world stadiums.

The first is that the appearance is very eye-catching, the outer wall is surrounded by 22 high and low spiraling glass curtain walls, like a fluttering ribbon, so it is named ice ribbon, and this is also the difficulty in construction: the glass curtain wall is composed of more than 3,300 pieces of glass, each piece has a different curved arc, to stitch them into a smooth whole, the difficulty of construction can be imagined.

From the inside, the roof of the ice ribbon is currently the largest of the world's sports venues. The roof of the stadium is like a huge tennis racket on the roof, this roof is not built from a high altitude, but after being assembled on the ground, it is then lifted and installed on the roof. This special design, called a single-layer two-way orthogonal saddle-shaped cable mesh roof, can significantly reduce the use of steel to a quarter of that of traditional steel structures, echoing the theme and goal of "green energy conservation" of the Beijing Winter Olympics.

In terms of function, the ice ribbon also set a number of the best. First of all, the ice surface of the ice ribbon is the largest in Asia, with an area of 12,000 square meters, and it is not necessary to hold a large-scale competition.

Secondly, the ice ribbon used a new carbon dioxide ice making technology during the construction process, which is the world's largest ice surface with a carbon dioxide refrigeration system, and the world's first Winter Olympic venue to be cooled by this technology.

The most powerful point of this technology is that it can control the temperature difference of the ice surface within 0.5 ° C, which is far lower than the standard of the ICE surface temperature difference of no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius. The smaller the temperature difference on the ice surface, the more uniform the hardness, and the smoother the ice surface, the more conducive to sliding. It is also very environmentally friendly, with an ozone depletion potential (ODP) of 0 and a global warming potential (GWP) of 1, no odor, non-flammability, and 20% more efficient than traditional ice refrigeration systems.

In addition, the ice ribbon is also equipped with an intelligent energy management system, which can recycle the waste heat generated by ice making and then use it for heating, dehumidification and ice melting. In full ice mode, more than 2 million kWh of electricity can be saved every year.
