In 1911, a poor peasant family in Henghe Village, Mamuchi Township, Yinan County, Shandong Province, ushered in the arrival of a baby girl, and her parents named her Ming Deying.
In that era of lack of clothing and food, even if Ming Deying's parents tried their best for the family's old and young rations, they still had to live a life of eating chaff and throat vegetables, because there was no money, even the 2-year-old Ming Deying launched a high fever and had no money to treat, more than ten days later, Ming Deying's fever subsided, but he also ended up with a lifelong illness that could not speak normally.
In the blink of an eye, the "dumb girl" Ming Deying reached the age of marriage, because of the poverty of her family and the problem of not being able to speak normally, Ming Deying finally married Li Kaitian, a villager who was also poor and white.
In order to give the two a place to live, the villagers worked together to help them build a low, simple thatched hut, known locally as the "Tuan Scoop". After the two married, they made a living as helpers and guards of cemeteries.

One day in early November, a small soldier of the Eighth Route Army surnamed Xu rushed out of the Japanese blockade, and with a gunshot wound, he fled to the cemetery under the care of Ming Deying, stumbling, and his physical strength was on the verge of exhaustion.
At that time, While coaxing his eldest daughter who had just turned one year old in his arms, Ming Deying looked around, only to hear someone running not far in front of him. Ming Deying looked closely and found that it was a blood-stained Soldier of the Eighth Route Army who was being pursued by the enemy.
Ming Deying didn't think much of it, and immediately rushed forward, pulled the weak little warrior into the low thatched hut of his house, and covered the little warrior's body with a pile of firewood.

On the same day, the Japanese army captured the temporary Zhuang Ding, Zhuang Xinmin and Li Kaitian were favored by the Japanese at the same time, Li Kaitian saw that Zhuang Xinmin was injured but his eyes were shining, and he knew that this young man should be a small eighth road. In order to cover zhuang Xinmin, Li Kaitian asked Zhuang Xinmin to treat him as father and son, and the two were released by the Japanese army after 2 weeks of hard work.
