Beijing, January 1 (Xinhua) -- With the official release of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Olympics award elements by the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee on December 31, 2021, the relevant person in charge of the Official Sports Display and Award Ceremony Service Sponsor of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games revealed three "behind-the-scenes details" to reporters on January 1.
Award ceremony costumes can keep warm at minus 30 degrees Celsius
Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games award elements, including the podium, award tray, award tray placement platform, award athletes customized mascot souvenirs, award bouquets and award ceremonial costumes. Among them, the award ceremonial clothing should not only present the dignified and generous image of the etiquette personnel, but also meet the requirements of cold protection and warmth. During the race, the lowest temperature in the award square in Zhangjiakou is likely to reach minus 30 degrees Celsius.
The production team needs to find the right fabric for the ceremonial costume. After many discussions and repeated comparison tests, the three sets of award ceremonial clothing schemes of "Ruixue Xiangyun", "Hongyun Shanshui" and "Tanghua Feixue" are made of polyimide fiber materials according to different award scenes. This material has been applied in the aerospace field, with high and low temperature resistance, good skin adaptability, the material itself low thermal conductivity and other advantages. From the initial design of the costume to the official delivery, the production team spent 20 months to ensure the smooth appearance of the ceremonial costume.
The production of award materials reflects environmental protection and practicality
The theme slogan of the Beijing Winter Olympics is "Together to the Future". The production of materials such as the award podium, the award pallet, and the award pallet placement platform also fully reflects sustainable development.
Both the podium cabinet and the award tray are made of eco-friendly materials. These materials should also be practical, with low-temperature anti-slip cushions on the award table and anti-slip silicone pads on the award tray to prevent medals and souvenirs from slipping off. Through modular combination of stitching, the podium can be quickly moved and assembled to meet the needs of rapid conversion from single-person projects to multi-person projects. The Winter Paralympic podium also added an accessible ramp design for athletes with disabilities.
The booth is a unique element of the "contactless" award ceremony, which follows the overall requirements of the International Olympic Committee for the award ceremony without contact. The placement table is divided into two types: large stage and small platform, which are used for multi-person projects and single-person projects. The hood of the large table is made of highly resilient knitted fabric. Considering the safety of use in the strong wind environment of the outdoor venue, both models of the storage table have been scientifically counterweighted.
217 award ceremony volunteers from 11 universities participated in the training
The use of award elements and the creation of atmosphere for the Beijing Winter Olympics are inseparable from the guidance and foil of the award ceremony personnel. From April to June 2021, after a three-month recruitment period, a total of 217 candidates from 11 universities, including Beijing Sport University, China Women's College, and Capital University of Economics and Business, participated in the award ceremony training.

In order to train the team of etiquette personnel who meet the technical standards of the International Olympic Committee and the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, the teacher training team has built a complete teaching system including teaching courses, action standards, award streams and other professional contents, and implemented training from basic knowledge teaching to professional action training, from etiquette march combination to award synthesis exercise.
At the end of September 2021, the 45-day award ceremony volunteer candidates were trained intensively. After systematic training, they have been tested in the series of winter sports events of "Meet in Beijing", and they will be deeply involved in the award ceremony service during the competition, which has become a beautiful landscape on the field.
