AMD R9 6980HX Exposure: Clock frequency up to 5 GHz, built-in RDNA 2-core display

December 31 news, AMD expects to release several new processors during CES 2022, including the R9 6980HX and the Athlon Gold Pro 4150GE.

The AMD R9 6980HX is a high-performance mobile platform processor with an 8-core, 16-thread cpu and up to 5GHz. The slightly lower-positioned R9 6900HX CPU is also an 8-core, 16-thread specification with a maximum frequency of 4.9GHz.

The more mainstream R7 6800H has a CPU segment of 8-core, 16-thread specification with a maximum frequency of 4.7GHz.

They will all use the Zen 3+ architecture, based on TSMC 6nm, and support DDR5-4800 memory. Although it is highly likely that the same 3D cache stacking technology on the desktop side will not be used, their core display may be upgraded to the RDNA 2 architecture, and the top model of the R9 6980HX may be named Radeon 680M, which is good for the nuclear display all-rounder.

Next is the desktop Athlon series, of which the Athlon Gold Pro 4150GE benchmark Intel T series, the CPU uses a 4-core 4-thread specification, the highest frequency of 3.7GHz, with Vega 5-core display. It has a TDP of 35W and supports DDR4-3200 memory.

Compared with the Athlon Pro 3000 series, this processor has greatly improved its process, CPU and GPU specifications, and is suitable for use in office computers and personal low-power hosts.

If you want to pursue higher performance, the 5600G/5700G on sale will obviously be more suitable.

Both products will theoretically be released during CES 2022, but AMD has eliminated the offline display link, so there will only be an online conference at that time.
