Last week, another wave of cold raged across the country, freezing everywhere. On Saturday, Tai Ge took his female driver to die Boyuan foraging for food, and was directly blown into a fool. Low temperature coupled with the blessing of the northwest wind, the temperature of metal and glass surfaces can often be lower than -10 degrees or even lower, it can be said that as long as the car wash sprinkles water can become ice in seconds.

If you want to quickly remove ice, the first thought in the minds of many car owners is to pour hot water, after all, ice is solidified or condensed by cold water or steam, so the simplest way to de-icing is heating. Pour a bottle of warm water and pour directly on the ice.
However, the heat conduction of the glass thing is not good, and as a result, the thing will break the heat if it is not good. If the thermal expansion of the glass plate during the heating process does not produce heat and there is damage, there is no problem with boiling water poured on it. But if there is a small crack in the glass, you don't know it, again and again, the small crack becomes a big crack.
It has been reported before: in January 2018, some car owners froze on the glass, so they poured water on it, and with a "bang" sound, the glass was blown away.
But many times, it is our own improper operation that leads to some dangerous situations, such as the use of incorrect glass water. We know that water freezes below 0 degrees, and the same is true of glass water. The composition of ordinary glass water is "water + detergent", so the general temperature is lower than 0 degrees Celsius will freeze. Those car owners who usually use tap water instead of glass water, or are accustomed to using "solid pills", need to pay more attention when the cold wave hits.
Because the temperature in the engine compartment is relatively high, the water in the glass kettle is not frozen, but once it is sprayed on the cold glass, the consequences will be similar to the picture in the video at the beginning of the article.

It's simple, just add alcohol to the glass water!

Glass water containing alcohol and glycol can significantly reduce the freezing point of liquids, thereby playing an explosion-proof role. Moreover, the de-icing agent is more resistant to freezing than glass water, and if it is not frozen at minus 50 degrees Celsius, the de-icing effect will be slightly better.
The routine is also very simple, the previous journal has given the answer, the key to antifreeze is the "alcohol" substance, in fact, methanol, ethylene glycol, ethanol are OK. Methanol is toxic and generally does not recommend that everyone touch it; ethylene glycol is the "antifreeze" used in our car engines; ethanol is "medical alcohol" or "anhydrous alcohol". Pure alcohol has a freezing point of -114.3 °C and a glycol freezing point of -67 °C. So in other words, the higher the amount of alcohol and glycol contained in glass water, the better the antifreeze performance.
Speaking of which, I think you can already guess the DIY method: in ordinary glass water, mix with engine antifreeze, or alcohol (even the cheapest two-pot head) is finished, the more you mix, the lower the freezing point.
