Mention the name of John Madden,
I believe that friends who like to play video games will not be strangers.
Because, the famous rugby video game "Madden Rugby"
It is named after him.
On December 28, U.S. time, NFL legend, Hall of Famer John Madden passed away. Many of the active players and coaches have taken to social media to remember Madden. Today, we're going to talk about the legend who influenced everyone in the NFL, John Madden.
In 1958, the then 22-year-old offensive striker John Madden was drafted by the Philadelphia Hawks in the 21st round of that year's draft. Unfortunately, in his first training camp after entering the NFL, he suffered a knee injury that affected his career. And this devastating injury also directly ended his career.
But God has closed a door for you and will certainly open a window for you. The most Madden did every day during his recovery from a knee injury was to watch the game video and explain everything that happened. As a result, he became a good coach because of this knee injury.
In 1960, he became an assistant coach at Alain Hancock University and in 1967 became a linebacker coach for the Oakland Raiders (now the Las Vegas Raiders). In his first season with the Raiders, Madden helped the team make it to Super Bowl 2. The following year, Madden, 32, became the Raiders' head coach. But in the next 7 years, Madden's raiders fell to the American League Finals five times. Finally, on January 9, 1977, Madden led his Raiders to the 11th Super Bowl. His 103-32 record in his coaching career and his 75 percent coaching win rate are unmatched in NFL history.
After stepping down as Raiders coach, Madden joined the broadcast industry in 1979 as a commentator. And this commentary, one doing, is 30 years. From CBS, to Fox, to NBC, Madden has always been the most popular narrator for the audience. Winner of the Emmy Award 12 times, he has also become a household name in the United States.
In 1988, Madden lent his voice, characters, and name to EA Sports, and with it came the rugby game that influenced countless people, Madden Rugby. Although Madden retired from the commentary class in 2009, generation after generation of Madden Football reminds us time and time again of his importance to the NFL.
In the current NFL, every player has been influenced by Madden. Some are '70s Raiders fans, some have heard him play, and some may still be loyal players of Madden Football. It's no wonder NFL President Roger Goodell praised Madden at a press conference: He's rugby. There will never be a second John Madden. We are forever grateful for his contributions to football and to the NFL now.
