Virginia's speech drew applause from thousands of fans in attendance, along with a video of Madden's tribute as a commentator and manager, as well as a congratulatory video of Hall of Famers such as Brett Fallover and Peyton Manning.

Several coaches including Andy Reed, Ron Rivera and Steve Marioch also gave their own speeches. "He taught me never to lose my first love for life," Reed said.

Madden died at his home in California on December 28 last year at the age of 85. He taught at Raiders for 10 years and as a television commentator for three years, and the most famous rugby game is named after him.

In his 10-year coaching career, his record is 103 wins, 32 defeats and 7 draws, and he has won the American League championship in seven seasons, with a winning percentage of 75.9%, the highest in NFL history to coach more than 100 games.

Tickets to the event cost $32.14 in honor of his only Super Bowl victory, the 32-14 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, with the entire ticket money going to charity.
