Beijing time on December 30 news, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios jointly created the superhero blockbuster "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (Spider-Man: No Way Home), has now grossed $1.16 billion worldwide, about 7.387 billion yuan, which has become the highest-grossing film in the history of Sony Pictures.
According to reports from the Deadline website, as of Tuesday local time in the United States, the domestic box office of "Spider-Man: Homeless" has reached $516.4 million, the overseas box office has reached $644.9 million, and the global total box office has reached $1.16 billion.
This means that Spider-Man: Homeless has surpassed the $1.13 billion of its predecessor, Spider-Man: Far From Home, released in 2019, to become the highest-grossing film in the history of Sony Pictures.
In just 14 days, Spider-Man: Homeless surpassed the total box office of Spider-Man: The Hero's Journey, and that was without the support of Chinese audience wallets.
You know, in 2019, "Spider-Man: Hero Expedition" was released simultaneously in China, and that film received nearly $200 million at the box office from Chinese audiences, about 1.27 billion yuan.
Previously, "Spider-Man: Heroes Of No Return" not only surpassed China's war epic blockbuster "Chosin Lake" to become the highest-grossing film in the world in 2021, but also became the first blockbuster with a global box office of more than $1 billion since 2019, boosting the sluggish film market.
Meanwhile, the film, starring Tom Holland, Zadaya and Benedict Cumberbatch, surpassed Daniel Craig's No Time To Die as the highest-grossing Hollywood film overseas this year.
It's also worth noting that Spider-Man: Homeless has surpassed Disney and Lucasfilm's sci-fi epic blockbuster Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, which grossed $1.074 billion worldwide.
Since Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker, Spider-Man: Homeless is the world's first blockbuster to gross more than $1 billion in nearly two years.
Previously, whether it was "Fast & Furious 9" in which Universal Pictures had high hopes, or Marvel Studios' three superhero blockbusters — Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals — or Daniel Craig's farewell battle 007: No Time to Die. Or the sci-fi epic blockbuster Dune starring Timothy Chalame, didn't make it that far.
Congratulations to Spider-Man: Heroes Of No Return, congratulations to Peter Parker!
