This is the first sentence of Han Jinchao, a villager in Chengjiazhuang Village, Lingshou County, Hebei Province, who met the young volunteers of Hebei China Tobacco Industry Co., Ltd. a few days ago. It turned out that the volunteers had gone to help him grow sweet potatoes again. As early as last November, volunteers went to help him collect sweet potatoes. Seeing these familiar faces, Han Jinchao was particularly happy.

Digging pits, burying seedlings, covering soil... Han Jin taught everyone to grow sweet potatoes by hand. Everyone listened carefully, quickly mastered the planting skills, and the quality and efficiency of labor were significantly improved.

Han Jinchao calculated an account: last year, his family planted about 100 acres of sweet potatoes, earning more than 200,000 yuan, which is more than 4 times the income earned by going out to work before. But two years ago, this bowl of "sweet potato rice" was still unstable and unsteady.

While discussing with experts from the Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences how to improve sweet potatoes, the village-based working group coordinated the purchase of sweet potatoes with the relevant departments of the company.

After learning about the difficulties of the villagers, Hebei Tobacco immediately released a message in the company's WeChat group, calling on everyone to buy poverty alleviation sweet potatoes, but did not expect that everyone's enthusiasm for buying was very high. The village-based working group also sent samples of sweet potatoes and dried sweet potatoes to the company, and set up a table at the entrance of the canteen for everyone to see and taste for themselves.

After tasting, because of the good taste, the orders in the group suddenly increased, and some people asked for more than a dozen boxes, saying that they would wait for the festival to give them to relatives and friends to taste. In this way, after several "trade fairs", more than 100 people in the company purchased a total of 322 boxes of sweet potatoes.

The short-term "meal ticket" has been solved, and the long-term development of the industry still depends on the market.

Since 2019, the working group in the village and the two village committees have successively trained 3 leaders like Han Jinchao to cultivate new sweet potato products and develop characteristic planting. The working group in the village also took sweet potatoes and potato farmers to run at agricultural product exhibitions at all levels to introduce sweet potatoes in Chengjiazhuang Village to merchants and consumers from all over the country. Liu Jianhong took the battle to live stream the goods, using the online platform to sell sweet potatoes in Chengjiazhuang Village to farther places.

"At the beginning of the development of the sweet potato industry, we have made clear requirements to potato farmers: first, we must establish market awareness, rely on high quality, good quality and quality service to win the market; second, we must talk about credibility, we must do what we say, and we cannot be shoddy and short of two pounds." Therefore, in the process of selling, we help potato farmers design and make packaging cartons, carry out strict quality inspection in the three links of field, sorting and packing, and number the sweet potato boxes to achieve quality traceability. Nowadays, Chengjiazhuang Village continues to promote the development of planting and breeding industry by means of scientific breeding and strict management, consolidates the foundation of industrial development, and achieves remarkable results, forming a development model with "planting sweet potatoes + raising donkeys" as the focus and photovoltaic, tobacco, and Chinese herbal medicine industries as the support, and has embarked on a road of diversified development to get rich.
