Zheng Chenggong was born in the last years of the Ming Dynasty. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, politics was corrupt, eunuchs had monopoly power, officials were thieves, and secret agents were rampant, making the people unhappy. The people along the southeast coast have gone to sea to make a living, and some have taken risks and become pirates. Zheng Zhilong later became a small leader of pirates. At first, he followed Yan Siqi, the great thief of Jiangyang, and after Yan Siqi's death, he was elected as the Grand Chief. As a result, Zheng Zhilong used Taiwan as a base and often led warships to attack Ming officials in Xiamen.

Later, he was recruited by the Inspector of Fujian and became a guerrilla general, responsible for repairing coastal defense, defending the sea frontier, making military achievements, and being promoted to the rank of chief soldier.

Zheng Zhilong became an official of the Ming Dynasty and repeatedly went to pick up the mother and son of the Tagawa clan and return to China. However, the Tagawa family did everything in their power, and it was not until he became a general soldier that he agreed to send Zheng Chenggong back to China first.

In this way, Zheng successfully returned to China and became a Chinese.

Later, the Ming Dynasty collapsed, and Zheng Chenggong and his father returned to their hometown in Fujian. Zheng Zhilong established Zhu Yujian as emperor of the Ming Dynasty in Fuzhou, sent Zheng Chenggong to the emperor as a courtier, and was given the name "Zhu Chenggong" by the Wulong Emperor, becoming a general with the surname of the state. Later, the Qing army attacked Fuzhou, Zheng Zhilong surrendered to Qing, and Zheng Chenggong refused to surrender and led his troops to resist the Qing.

After the defeat of the Qing army, Zheng Chenggong led his troops across the Taiwan Strait, defeated the Dutch colonists, successfully recovered Taiwan, and became a national hero.

After Zheng Chenggong recovered Taiwan, he made a seven-sentence sentence entitled "Restoring Taiwan":

Open up the thorn hazel to chase the Lotus,

Ten years of re-establishment,

Tian Yokoshang has three thousand soldiers,

Ru bitterly can't bear to leave.
