Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam aims to complete the third dose of vaccination by January 2022

In the past week, Ho Chi Minh City has seen fewer than 1,000 new confirmed cases per day. On average, there are less than 50 new deaths in the city every day, many of which are transferred from other provinces and cities.

Nguyen Thi Hoang Mei, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh Municipal Health Bureau, said that the timely detection of confirmed cases and treatment can help reduce critical cases and deaths. As a result, the city's counties are screening and testing high-risk populations and distributing drugs to confirmed patients.

Ho Chi Minh City is the first city in the country to carry out vaccination and the highest level of vaccination coverage in the country. To date, Ho Chi Minh City has received a total of 14 million doses of vaccinations, of which 7.9 million are given in the first dose, 6.9 million doses in the second dose and 438,000 doses in the third dose.

The Ministry of Health has asked Ho Chi Minh City to complete a third dose of vaccination for people over the age of 18 by the end of the first quarter of 2022, but the city aims to complete the vaccination by January 2022.

As of 18:00 on December 26, Ho Chi Minh City had 544 new confirmed cases, 30 deaths, and a cumulative death rate of 19,000.

On the other hand, according to Fan Dehai, director of the Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention and Control in Ho Chi Minh City and Economic Recovery, as of December 23, 47 confirmed cases of confirmed cases on campus were found in 15 counties of Ho Chi Minh City, and the disposal of confirmed cases was carried out according to procedures, so parents were assured that their children would go to school. At present, students in the middle and high school graduating classes continue to resume classes as planned. In light of the results of the two-week pilot, the leadership of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will consider whether to arrange for other grades to return to school.
