The event has been held in Shenzhen since 2016 and co-organized with the "Shenzhen Youth Film Festival", which is committed to discovering and cultivating young film and television talents, and has built a display and exchange platform for the national documentary industry.

After the film premiered in the "Military Documentary" column of the CCTV-7 National Defense Military Channel of the Central Radio and Television Corporation, it was broadcast on the CCTV-Old Story Channel and the CCTV-Discovery Tour Channel, which was sought after by the vast audience and caused dozens of mainstream media reports in China.

"Heroic Mother" tells the revolutionary story of Li Shuhuan's touching heart. In Hong Kong, she shouldered the responsibility of collecting anti-war materials for the Anti-Japanese Guerrillas in the Dongjiang River and taking care of and helping the missing fighters of the Eastern Vertical League. She successively sent 7 children - Guo Xiancheng, Guo Yunxiang, Guo Xianxu, Guo Xianhe (also known as Guo Shunzhi), Guo Xianle (also known as Guo Shanzhi), Guo Xianyi (later renamed Guo Ji), and Guo Xianlong - to the anti-Japanese front, the youngest child was only 11 years old, and 3 of them died heroically in the struggle for national liberation. Li Shuhuan himself also came to the anti-Japanese base area of Dalingshan in Dongguan, rescued the wounded in the medical clinic, and engaged in intelligence gathering and liaison while teaching at the primary school in Datang Village, and was eventually arrested and killed by the Kuomintang recalcitrant army in Dalingshan.
The film was launched in 2020 and completed in June 2021. The film crew has visited Dongguan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Huizhou and other places, interviewed hundreds of veteran soldiers of the Eastern Vertical, widows, and historical researchers of the Eastern Vertical, especially trying to contact Li Shuhuan's daughter-in-law and three generations of descendants, consulting a large number of precious historical materials, including the video materials of Li Shuhuan's sixth son Guo Ji when he returned to Dalingshan, and stringing together the series of actions of "revolutionary mother" Li Shuhuan in the time of national crisis into the main line of the whole film, comprehensively recording Li Shuhuan's heroic deeds.
