Jidu Automobile will launch an automotive robot in the future

The joint venture between Baidu and Geely has a new move. On December 27, Baidu Chairman Robin Li said at the Baidu AI Developer Conference that Jidu will announce the first concept car in the first half of 2022 and deliver the first automotive robot in mass production in 2023.

Robin Li said that Jidu's automotive robots will run through three scientific and technological concepts, namely free movement, natural communication and self-growth. First of all, Jidu's automotive robot has L4 level of autonomous driving capabilities and can "move freely". Secondly, the car robot will realize the accurate recognition of human-vehicle interaction and speech semantics, so that the car and people can "naturally communicate", understand user emotions, and respond to user needs in real time. Third, automotive robots can learn and iterate according to users' usage habits, continuously optimize automatic driving and intelligent cockpit experience, and achieve "self-growth".

Robin Li also said that intelligent transportation will be a far-reaching major change, which can basically solve the problem of traffic congestion within 10 years. The automotive robot represents the "smart car", showing Baidu's judgment on the future of automobile development; while the AIR (AI Road) intelligent road system is the road end "automatic driving system" launched by Baidu, representing the "smart road".

AIR has the same sensors, computing units, software and cloud systems as autonomous vehicles, and has the ability to perceive, plan and make decisions on autonomous driving. At present, Baidu AIR intelligent road system has achieved real-time optimization of "city-level" information control at more than 2,000 intersections across the country, improving travel efficiency by 15% to 30%.

A few days ago, Jidu, Weilai and Geely officially became the joint lead units for the development and standardization of wire steering technology development and standardization, and will lead the formulation of relevant national standards for wire control. It is understood that the steering by wire is the core technology of automobile intelligence, which is closely related to intelligent driving and intelligent cockpit. As a new next-generation steering technology, the research and development of steer-by-wire technology and the formulation of regulations are carried out simultaneously.
