Last Sunday, the 2021 "Zhejiang Archaeological Important Discoveries" was officially announced, and a total of 10 projects were evaluated in Zhejiang Province, and the first phase of the cemetery of Shaoxing Lanting Wildlife Park was successfully selected.
It is reported that the project plot is located on the east side of Lanting Village, Lanting Street. In March this year, in order to cooperate with the construction of the project, the Joint District Museum of the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology conducted archaeological excavations in the area, with an excavation area of about 11,000 square meters and a total of 55 tombs, dating from the Warring States to the Ming and Qing dynasties, of which most of the Tombs of the Six Dynasties and the Tang Dynasty were excavated, and 68 pieces (groups) of various types of burial products were excavated.
"These tombs lasted for about two thousand years, and almost all dynasties had tombs buried, among which there were large-scale Western Jin Tombs with complete structure, grand scale and clear chronology, which were rare in Shaoxing." Experts from the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology said that the discovery of the project has a yardstick value for judging similar tombs in the same period, and provides valuable information for studying the social and economic development level of the Six Dynasties period of Shaoxing.
The relevant person in charge of the district museum told reporters that the project is of great significance to enrich the historical and cultural heritage of Shaoxing. At present, the well-preserved parts have been relocated and protected as a whole, and will be better displayed to the public after restoration, preserving precious cultural heritage for Lanting to build the "Hometown of Shusheng" and Shaoxing to build the "Capital of East Asian Civilization".
