At the beginning of the founding of the Qing Dynasty, the Qing government was tormented by rebellion. And the head of the rebellion, Prince Zhu San, was an ever-lingering nightmare for the Qing government.
Prince Daming
In 1644, Li Zicheng attacked Beijing. The Chongzhen Emperor knew that the situation was gone, and after ordering all the harem concubines to commit suicide, he himself hanged himself on the coal mountain. The rule of the Ming Dynasty ended, along with the unfortunate life of the Chongzhen Emperor.
The Chongzhen Emperor had a total of seven sons, but only three were still alive at this time, namely the crown prince Zhu Cijiong, the Ding king Zhu Cijiong, and the Yong king Zhu Cizhao. The three princes were quietly taken out of the imperial city by eunuchs, and in order to avoid being swept away, the three princes scattered and fled in order to make a comeback.
After this, the Qing army successfully entered Shanhaiguan with the help of Wu Sangui. As a foreign nation, after entering the Central Plains, the Qing army played the banner of avenging Chongzhen, in order to alleviate the resistance of the Han people and rationalize the Qing army's entry into the customs.
Therefore, in addition to strictly restricting military discipline and prohibiting the Qing army from plundering the people, Dorgon also announced that he would treat the descendants of the Ming dynasty royal family kindly. After hearing about the Qing army's policies, the crown prince Zhu Cixi, who could not afford to sleep outside, returned to the home of his grandfather Zhou Kui.
Zhou Kui was shocked after seeing Zhu Cixi, and after learning that Zhu Cixin listened to the Qing army's policy of kindness and believed that his life would not be in danger, he beat his chest. After that, more and more people came to see Zhu Cixi, but Zhou Kui always claimed that this was a fake prince.
However, Zhou Kui's plan did not escape the eyes of the Qing army in the end. Dorgon took Zhu Cixi and his men to see him in jail on the charge of impersonating the Ming dynasty crown prince, and soon afterwards beheaded them all.
Compared with the eldest brother, the life of Zhu Cijiong, the third son of the Chongzhen Emperor, was much more exciting, and even after his death, there was still a lot of damage to the Qing government.
Prince Zhu San
After the crown prince's death, Zhu Cijiong became the legitimate heir to the Ming regime. However, at this time, Zhu Cijiong disappeared, and no one knew his whereabouts. It was not until 1679 that Zhu Cijiong was captured by the Qing government.
It turned out that after the three brothers were dispersed, Zhu Cijiong knew that the Ming Dynasty had exhausted its strength, and it was like a fool's dream to want to make a comeback. Therefore, Zhu Cijiong, who was full of despair, escaped into the empty door, cut his hair and became a monk, and never wanted to come to the world again.
Prince Zhu San, who had experienced the ups and downs of his life, had planned to do so but was dead. However, during an outing, Zhu Cijiong was captured by a group of mountain thieves who occupied the mountain as the king. Seeing that the mountain thieves had not shaved their heads, Zhu Cijiong realized that this group of mountain thieves was a group of Han people who did not obey the qing government's discipline.
Therefore, in order to save his life, Zhu Cijiong revealed his true identity to the gang of mountain thieves, hoping that they could spare him. Unexpectedly, after learning of Zhu Cijiong's identity, the leader of the mountain thieves immediately led the crowd to fall to their knees, shouting long live and weeping bitterly.
It turned out that this gang of mountain thieves were originally soldiers of the Ming Dynasty, because they were dissatisfied with the Qing army's entry into the Central Plains, they asked the Han people to shave their hair and change their clothes, so they went up the mountain to become robbers. Now the appearance of Prince Zhu San made them ecstatic. Therefore, this gang of mountain thieves supported Zhu Cijiong as emperor and began to oppose the Qing Dynasty and restore the Ming Dynasty.
At this time, many Han Chinese were dissatisfied with the rule of the Qing government, and when they learned that Prince Zhu San was still alive, these Han people came to join Zhu Cijiong. Originally just a small gang of mountain thieves, it is now quite large.
Naturally, this news could not escape the eyes and ears of the Qing government. Therefore, the Qing government sent officers and soldiers to suppress it. Under the powerful offensive, these miscellaneous armies were simply unable to compete with the officers and soldiers, and they were quickly wiped out. Zhu Cijiong was also captured by the officers and soldiers.
In order to get rid of the resistance of the Han people, Zhu Cijiong had to be executed. However, the promise of treating the descendants of the Ming royal family well must also be fulfilled, so the Qing government, before the execution, deliberately announced to the world that the executed person was a fake Prince Zhu San, just an excuse for rebellion.
After getting rid of Zhu Cijiong, the Qing government thought it could sit back and relax. However, the real nightmare has only just begun.
The ghost is not gone
Judging from the subsequent development of events, the Qing government's practice of saving face actually set a trap for itself that could not be broken. Because when he killed the real Prince Zhu San, he claimed to be a fake Prince Zhu San, in the eyes of the world, the real Prince Zhu San was still alive.
As a result, the Ming Dynasty loyal martyrs, who deliberately opposed the Qing Dynasty and restored the Ming Dynasty, set off uprisings of different scales throughout the country. And the reasons for their uprising were also surprisingly consistent, all of them were to oppose the Qing Dynasty and restore the Ming Dynasty, and to support the third prince of Zhu as emperor.
These people all claimed to have found the real Prince Zhu San, and all had different relics to prove the authenticity of the Prince Zhu San they found. In 61 years, there were as many as 70 uprisings across the country.
In fact, the real Prince Zhu San had already been beheaded by the Qing government, and the Zhu San Prince found by these people was naturally all fake. The authenticity of Prince Zhu San is no longer important in the eyes of these people, and the name of Prince Zhu San has actually become a political symbol of the struggle against Manchu qing rule.
In order to solve the troubles caused by the haunted Prince Zhusan, the Qing government had to find a substitute ghost to replace the deposed Prince Zhusan, who had been executed. However, this search really allowed the Qing government to find the last son of the Chongzhen Emperor, Zhu Cizhao.
It turned out that Zhu Cizhao changed his name to Wang Shiyuan, became a teacher, and lived under the rule of the Qing government for more than sixty years. The Qing government's order to search for the "Third Prince of Zhu" reminded the officials of Zhu Cizhuo's territory of this humble teacher.
From the name he changed for himself, it is not difficult to find that Zhu Cizhao is still grumpy about the demise of Daming. Wang Shiyuan's three words in turn are "originally the king", in order to lament his fate.
And the name he gave to his son still followed the ancestral system set by Zhu Yuanzhang, which was a strange word on the side of the word "earth". All kinds of signs made the local officials suspicious of it and reported it to the imperial court.
After verifying his true identity, Zhu Cizhao naturally became the best candidate for the real Third Prince of Zhu. However, at this time, Zhu Cizhao was already seventy-five years old, and he had always kept to himself, and had nothing to do with the uprisings in various places.
However, in order to achieve political goals, Zhu Cizhao was still charged with treason and exterminated the entire clan. The last bloodline of the Ming Dynasty was completely severed.
