The Tesla Holiday Update introduces the feature of designing their own light show to all car owners

Tesla Cars' feature-rich over-the-air software updates (OTAs) load with some interesting and useful new features that have become a tradition for Elon Musk and the car company at the end of the year. On Tuesday, local time, Roadshow released the first new details about the company's latest version, 11.0.

Then on Friday, the electric car maker revealed further information detailing capabilities that go far beyond functional upgrades, such as a new, modern-like automatic blind spot camera display and improved navigation. Even in the legal controversy surrounding Passenger Play, v11.0 has brought new games to Telas Arcade, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Sudoku and The Battle of Polytopia.

There's also a new feature available to everyone — even those who don't even own Tesla — and it's an update to the Tesla Light Show. This feature, which people have actually seen in the past, allows tesla audio systems to match the light show with festive hits such as "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (Nutcracker Suite)" while playing it. Now, Tesla has opened up features that support XLights, an open-source freeware that allows users to create their own vehicle light shows on their computers. The file can then be uploaded to a compatible Tesla car using a USB drive.

Other v11.0 features disclosed in Tesla's official blog post include updating the user interface for models with Intel Atom processors. Inspired by the latest mid-term updates to the Model S hatchback and Model X SUV, these features include a Sab-like dark mode, a user-definable app launcher, and a rationalized control menu.

Music enthusiasts may also love a series of small updates that include five levels of immersive audio, plus an auto-adaptation setting that has a manual bass control feature.

Finally, there are some new, cold-weather-friendly features for those living in cold climates, including automatic heaters for front seats that are activated based on cabin conditions and HVAC settings. This seems to be similar to the function of the remote activation activated cockpit preset function on a Stellantis vehicle. Tesla says the feature can now be used using the Tesla app, as well as through the vehicle's central touchscreen — even at lower charging levels.
