According to the Notice on Issues Related to the Reimbursement of Infant medical expenses issued by the Beijing Municipal Medical Insurance Bureau, since December 25, individuals only need to pay out-of-pocket expenses for inpatient medical expenses incurred after birth of newborns whose parents are registered in Beijing.

From December 25, the cost of neonatal inpatient medical treatment in Beijing can be settled in real time

After the implementation of the new policy, within six months of the child's birth, the child's relatives can apply for real-time settlement and filing with the designated medical institutions for inpatient medical treatment, and sign a letter of commitment to participate in insurance to achieve real-time settlement of inpatient medical expenses. The materials to be provided for filing include the household registration booklet of the parents of infants and young children, identity cards, marriage certificates, and infant identity information.

If according to the current basic medical insurance regulations for urban and rural residents in Beijing, only the medical expenses incurred after the children go through the insurance payment procedures can be reimbursed in real time; however, the medical expenses incurred before the individual needs to pay the medical expenses in full and then reimburse them manually.

According to the new regulations, the inpatient medical expenses incurred by infants and young children in all designated medical institutions in the city can be settled in real time. In accordance with the provisions of the basic medical insurance for urban and rural residents in this city, it shall be paid by the basic medical insurance fund for urban and rural residents in this city.

In addition, after the real-time settlement of inpatient medical expenses is implemented for infants and young children, relatives should promptly go through the registration procedures for the basic medical insurance of urban and rural residents for infants and young children, and pay the medical insurance premiums for the corresponding year in one lump sum according to the payment standards.

In particular, it should be noted that after six months of infant and child birth, those who have not applied for insurance contributions will no longer be reimbursed in real time for inpatient medical expenses.
