In the battle against the Japanese Kou, "four famous regiments" emerged, namely the Jixing Wen Regiment in the Battle of Lugou Bridge, the Luo Fangju Regiment in the Nankou Defense Battle, the Chen XiLian Regiment in the Surprise Attack on Yangmingbao Airport in the Battle of Xinkou, and the Xie Jinyuan Regiment defending the Shanghai Sihang Warehouse.

They are the representatives of the Chinese army in the fight against the Japanese Kou, and they have left a glorious page in the history of the War of Resistance with their flesh and blood, and today I will introduce to you the Luo Fangju regiment in the nankou defense war, among these four regimental commanders, Luo Fangjue has always been little known.

Luo Fangjue was born in Hengdong County, Hengyang, Hunan Province, a family of scholars, when he was young, Luo Fangjue studied well, and at the same time paid special attention to national affairs, in the face of warlords and invasions by great powers, Luo Fangjue was determined to emulate Yue Fei, Wen Tianxiang and others to serve the motherland.

In 1925, 18-year-old Luo Fangjue graduated from Yueyun Middle School, changed the family tradition of throwing pens from Rong, went south to Guangzhou to enter the Huangpu Fourth Phase, and there were not a few famous generals who came out of the Huangpu Fourth Phase, such as Wang Yaowu, Hu Lian, Zhang Lingfu, etc. Luo Fangjue appeared lonely and nameless.

In 1926, Luo Fangjue immediately participated in the Northern Expedition after graduation, successively serving as a platoon commander and a company commander, and by 1935, he was promoted to the commander of the 529th Regiment of the 89th Division of the 13th Army, at the age of 28.

In 1936, in the Battle of Suidong, Luo Fangjue regiment first appeared sharp and made great achievements, and the next year, the Japanese invaded China in an all-round way, and after the Japanese occupied Pingjin, they gathered 4 brigades and regiments again and attacked westward, the 13th Army was ordered to defend Nankou, and the 4 regiments of the 89th Division were arranged in the area from Deshengkou to Juyongguan.

Among them, Luo Fangjue Regiment was responsible for the section from Nankou Huyu Village to Juyongguan, which was the focus of the Japanese attack, Luo Fangjue Regiment bore the brunt of it, from August 8, Japanese aircraft and artillery continued to bomb the position, and the Japanese army used more than 10,000 troops for the attack.

At that time, Luo Fangjue's regiment only had more than a thousand people, in the face of the attack of the 10th Kou, Luo Fangjue and the soldiers were under great pressure, life and death were no longer important, what was important was how to complete the task and hold the position, Luo Fangjue was always in the front line commanding the battle.

Luo Fangjue had already put life and death aside, before the war he sent his pregnant wife back to his hometown from the garrison, without worries, he fought with all his strength, and fought until August 10, in order to reduce casualties, Luo Fangjue ordered the temporary withdrawal from the main position of Longhutai and was quickly occupied by the Japanese army.

However, the Japanese army never expected that when the foothold was unstable, Luo Fangjue led the troops to counterattack, and the officers and men of the 529th Regiment and the Japanese army engaged in hand-to-hand combat, and the bloody battle took back the position for 3 hours, while greatly killing and injuring the Japanese army's living forces, and the corpses filled the trenches, and then Luo Fangjue held his position to repel the Japanese Kou attacks many times.

After falling into a fierce battle, in order to break the stalemate, the Japanese sent out tanks, Luo Fangjue in the absence of tank weapons, organized a death squad, soldiers with grenades, in a rolling manner to approach the tank to blow up the tracks, using this method to repulse the Japanese tank formation.

The deeds of Luo Fangjue's courageous killing of the enemy were widely publicized by the "Ta Kung Pao" at that time, and Luo Fangjue's regiment held its position until the 26th, when it was ordered to retreat, and then moved to Shanxi, Hebei and other places, and in the spring of 1938, Luo Fangjue led his troops to participate in the famous Battle of Taierzhuang.
