He was in a position of power, but chose a 40-year-old husband for his daughter

It was such a person who married his beautiful 22-year-old daughter Li Jujun to a minister named Zhang Peilun, who was 40 years old at the time and had lost his wife twice. So, why did Li Hongzhang make such a choice?
Half out of appreciation for Zhang Peilun, half out of political considerations
Zhang Peilun is a famous talent, has written many books, is more famous "Qingliu", likes to impeach ministers, and has his own views on major events in the world, such a person naturally won the appreciation of Li Hongzhang.
But it is not enough to have appreciation, Zhang Peilun also has a thick background, and his father Zhang Yintang is the old superior of Cixi's father Hui zheng. In the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Incident, zhang Yintang and Hui Zheng were both sent to quell the rebellion, but because the Qing army's combat effectiveness was too low, the two could be said to have suffered a lot, and eventually died on the battlefield of Anhui.
With such a father, Zhang Peilun was naturally appreciated by Cixi, and in the ten years from 1874 to 1884, from Seven Pins to Three Pins, this kind of official speed is unmatched by ordinary people, plus Li Hongzhang and Zhang Yintang are also close friends, so under various considerations, he decided to marry his daughter to Zhang Peilun.
Unfortunately, the end of this marriage was not satisfactory
In the beginning, Li Jujun was still very satisfied with her husband, although the other party has gradually aged, but the extraordinary talent can make her ignore this. The married life of the two is very harmonious and happy, which Zhang Peilun once recorded in his own works. Playing the piano and singing harmony, tasting tea to poetry, can be said to be a fairy lover.
But soon, the career was not smooth, so Zhang Peilun began to drink heavily and constantly indulge himself. It turned out that although Zhang Peilun was excellent in theory, he was not good at practice at all. In 1883, when the war between China and France broke out, Zhang Peilun advocated resistance to the French and wrote more than ten chapters to expound his battle plan, Cixi and other ministers were impressed, thinking that his strategy was feasible, and gave him the position of Sanpin and minister of shipping, responsible for the affairs of Fujian's maritime frontiers.
Unfortunately, there are still very few natural generals, and Zhang Peilun, who has never fought a battle, speaks well on his lips, but he simply does not have the ability to command on the spot. In the face of the spies of the French side, in addition to asking the imperial court for reinforcements, there was no defensive guard at all, which eventually led to the almost total annihilation of the Fujian Marine Division, and Zhang Peilun was also convicted.
Since then, despite the help of Li Hongzhang, Zhang Peilun has never been reused. Even if a man's family is happy, if there is no room for career exercise, he will be depressed, and Zhang Peilun is like this. After seeing his changes, Li Jujun once wrote to her father Li Hongzhang to complain, but she was only persuaded to be happy and not to hurt her body because of worry, which did not help her situation at all.
Eventually, Zhang Peilun died at the age of 37. Nine years later, Li Ju coupled also died of an illness in Shanghai. However, the most talked about thing is that Li Jujun and Zhang Peilun's son Zhang Zhiyi later married Huang Yifan and gave birth to a daughter, zhang Ailing, who is a household name, which may be something that Li Hongzhang could not have expected no matter what!
