Wei gang debut PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD: Sequential reads soar 14GBs

Vigang Electronics announced that its e-sports brand XPG will exhibit at CES 2022 on January 5-8, showcasing the world's first PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD SSD, along with overclocked DDR5 e-sports memory and a variety of other esports products.

Weigang will come up with two PCIe 5.0 SSD prototypes, code-named Projecct Nighthawk (Nighthawk) and Project Blackbird (Blackbird).

Both of them adopt M.2 2280 standard form, the maximum capacity is 8TB, support PCIe 5.0 x4, support NVMe 2.0 specification, sequential read speed can reach up to 14GB/s, sequential write up to 12GB/s, 10GB/s, respectively.

Compared to the top-level PCIe 4.0 SSD, the read speed is directly doubled, and the write speed is also increased by nearly 70%.

The main control and flash memory scheme have not been disclosed, but it can be seen that the flash memory particles have printed weigang's own LOGO.

The new DDR5 memory product is Longyao Caster, large-area RGB luminous design, single maximum capacity of 32GB, the highest frequency of 7000MHz.
