Fengyun Satellite has insight into the global "Fengyun"! It is used in 121 countries and regions

Recently, the National Satellite Meteorological Center of the China Meteorological Administration released data - since the business operation in January 2019, the Fengyun-2 H star, known as the "Belt and Road Star", receives 28 full-disk cloud maps and 20 northern hemisphere cloud maps every day, and has now received 55,000 cloud maps. Up to now, the number of countries and regions using Fengyun meteorological satellite data has reached 121, including 85 countries and regions along the "Belt and Road"; more than 1,400 trainees from 92 countries and regions around the world have received relevant technical training.

China's Fengyun series meteorological satellites and the Long March series carrier rockets used in their launches were developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

The Fengyun-2 H-star, which has been adjusted westward from the fixed-point location in space, makes up for the blind spots of global meteorological satellites in the Indian Ocean and Central Asia, West Asia and Africa, and its more than 50,000 cloud maps have been widely used in the response to natural disasters such as cyclone storms in the Arabian Sea and floods in Sri Lanka.

"The images of the various channels of the Fengyun-2 H star and the products such as Genting temperature and cloud classification obtained from the Fengyun Satellite Remote Sensing Data Service Network have provided useful help for our daily weather forecast service." The Weather Forecaster Velho Endernema of the Namibian Meteorological Bureau said at last month's Fengyun Meteorological Satellite International User Conference that the Fengyun-3 meteorological satellite receiving and processing system equipped with the assistance of Chinese meteorological experts on the spot has also been installed in the bureau, which can realize real-time access to satellite data, and the monitoring products such as lakes and vegetation generated therefrom have enhanced its environmental monitoring service capabilities. This is crucial for Namibia, which has been plagued by drought all year round.

At a time when global warming and extreme weather are becoming more frequent, not only the Fengyun-2 H star, but also the entire Fengyun meteorological satellite family is trying to serve the meteorological forecasting, natural disaster response and ecological environment governance of countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" and even the world.

In line with the international emergency response mechanism, China is promoting fengyun-4 A-star, Fengyun-3-D-star, and Fengyun-2 H-star to join the "duty satellite" sequence of the international charter mechanism for space and major disasters. Not long ago, the world's first civilian morning and evening orbit meteorological satellite Fengyun No. 3 E star and China's new generation of geostationary orbit meteorological satellite Fengyun No. 4 B star have even received "demand orders" from international users in advance, and look forward to being used as soon as possible.

From data services and information receiving platforms to remote sensing application products and skills training, they are provided free of charge, and international users and Chinese users enjoy the same treatment in terms of data acquisition. Nowadays, the sense of trust accumulated in exchanges and the sense of security brought about by the blessing of China's meteorological science and technology have enabled active door-to-door services and users to place orders independently, universal services and customized services to upgrade and increase efficiency in practice again and again. In recognition of the quality and efficiency of data, the use of Fengyun meteorological satellite data in various countries and regions has increased year by year. This year alone, international users have submitted more than 2,000 data service orders and downloaded more than 9 million data files.

During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China plans to launch 5 more meteorological satellites to achieve the upgrading of the third-generation Fengyun meteorological satellite comprehensive observation system by 2035, and will serve the "Belt and Road" more finely to help prevent and reduce disasters.
