The girl repeatedly fainted when running Experts remind: Children who faint for unknown reasons should be checked in time

Min Min (pseudonym), a 9-year-old girl in Chongqing, has just been discharged home from the Children's Hospital affiliated to Chongqing Medical University in recent days, after she fainted twice while running at school, and after an in-depth examination, she found that she had a serious heart disease.

In early December, Min Min fainted twice while running at school, and was escorted by 120 to a hospital near her home, although there was no major problem after treatment, but it was impossible to find out the cause of the fainting.

Why does my daughter faint repeatedly? Min Min was sent by her mother to the Children's Hospital affiliated with the Heavy Medical Center for investigation. After an EEG and CT examination of the head, there is no problem with the sensitive head. Through further cardiac ultrasound and CT tests, as well as exercise tests, doctors finally found the cause of Sensitive Fainting, an abnormality of left coronary artery origin.

The disease is like coronary heart disease in adults, which, if left untreated, can be dangerous to recur at any time due to exercise, including syncope and sudden death.

According to Professor Li Yonggang, deputy director of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery of the Children's Hospital affiliated to the Chongqing Medical University, the abnormal origin of the coronary artery refers to the origin of the left coronary artery from the right coronary sinus. In a normal state, the left coronary artery should originate from the left coronary sinus, and the right coronary artery should originate from the right coronary sinus. This disease is rare, belongs to congenital developmental deformities, and children are very prone to fainting or even sudden death when exercising. When the patient is in strenuous exercise or emotional agitation, blood pressure increases, blood flow increases, the aorta and pulmonary arteries dilate, abnormal coronary artery blood vessels will be compressed, and the blood flow of the left coronary artery will be seriously reduced or disappeared, resulting in large-scale myocardial ischemia, hypoxia, and even heart stoppage.

On December 3, the Children's Hospital affiliated to the Chongqing Medical Center performed a "left coronary artery topped surgery" for Min Min, removing the aortic lining tissue of the malformed coronary artery vessel in the inner segment of the aortic wall to relieve the compression of the left coronary artery by the aortic wall. The successful completion of the operation reopens the door to health for Min Min and saves the family from the nightmare.

At present, Min Min has successfully recovered and been discharged from the hospital.

Professor Li Yonggang also reminded parents that if their children faint for unknown reasons, they must be taken to a regular hospital for examination in time so as not to miss the discovery and treatment of such diseases.
