When you don't use an app, do you choose to log out or uninstall?

As a mobile phone user who is a bit "obsessive-compulsive", seeing the apps that have not been used in the mobile phone for many years, I always want to "get rid of the relationship" with these apps as soon as possible, the first step is to log off, and the second step is to uninstall. Uninstall is not difficult, but it is not easy to log off, many App's logout entrance is hidden "deep like the sea", sometimes it is really impossible to find the logout entrance or the need for various complicated operations when logging off, can only be simply and rudely uninstalled, but in fact, personal information is still stored on the servers of these Apps.

Compared with deregistration, it is much more convenient to register the App, most apps are constantly simplifying the registration steps, a mobile phone number, a verification code, the default registration of the App.

Failure to indicate the cancellation conditions, unreasonable settings for cancellation conditions, inability to directly log off through the App... In the "Evaluation Report on 50 App Account Cancellation and Automated Recommendation And Unsubscription" released by the China Consumer Association on December 14, the named apps are roughly divided into the above categories on the issue of account cancellation.

For example, in the McDonald's App evaluated by the China Consumer Association, the cancellation page shows that it is impossible to register again for six months from the date of cancellation. Some apps need to be manually reviewed before they can be cancelled, but the manual review has no one to accept, the commitment time limit is too long (more than 15 working days), or the commitment time limit is unknown.

Although some apps have a logout entrance, they cannot be logged off, because this App is bound to more than N other accounts, such as Alipay, WeChat, etc., and it must be unbound before it can be logged off. But when using these apps to bind other accounts, are there any relevant tips?

When encountering these troubles, users usually have two kinds of psychology: one is to unload it directly; the other is to keep it, in case it is used later.

Why are the registration steps so simple and the deregistration steps so complicated? An obvious superficial reason is that the app has to stabilize the number of users, but if you maintain good data in this way, it is "superficial prosperity".

The deeper reason should still be driven by data interests. Registering any App, users are accustomed to "being forced to give" a lot of information about themselves, mobile phone number, gender, date of birth, these are the most basic, geographical location, address book, photo album these "advanced information"... As long as the user has it, the app is willing to laugh at it.

Some analysts believe that most domestic enterprises generally believe that data "more is better", and the cost of collection (copy) is very low, app user ownership directly determines the assets and financing capabilities of platform enterprises, personal information can be quickly realized after collation and analysis, making many platform parties set some obstacles to cancellation or cancellation, and the current law enforcement difficulties and penalties have not promoted fundamental changes in the business environment, which also makes the platform willing to fight.

Don't users even have the right to log off?

In fact, the E-commerce Law has long given App users the right to cancel, that is, when a user applies for cancellation, the e-commerce operator shall immediately delete the user's information, and the relevant information in the account shall also be deleted, unless otherwise provided by laws, administrative regulations or agreed by both parties to continue to save their information.

Moreover, according to people in the legal profession, how simple it is to agree, it should not be more difficult to cancel, "just like one-click authorization consent, there should also be a one-click ability to withdraw authorization."

Cybersecurity Law, Personal Information Protection... The introduction of laws and regulations has put layers of armor on the user's personal information, but in front of some platforms, we are still like a "transparent person".

Enterprises need data as a support, which is understandable, but the processing of data is under the premise of specific and legitimate, not too much, rather than "protecting" their own data by setting up "deregistration barriers".

Does an app need fake boom, historical data, or real user activity?

In view of the problems found in the evaluation, the China Consumer Association will send rectification suggestions and interviews and exhortations to the app-owned enterprises, requiring all app operators to conduct self-examination and rectification in accordance with laws and regulations, clearly state reasonable cancellation conditions, provide convenient cancellation paths, ensure the smooth cancellation of users' accounts, and set up convenient automatic recommended unsubscribe methods to continuously improve relevant user agreements and privacy policies.

If you enter the App, click "My", find "Settings", enter "Account and Security", you can see "Cancel Account", and then log off with one click, it will be a very beautiful experience.
