Since the last test has been very detailed, this time I will not repeat the charging performance of the 174 version.
Plug directly into the MacBook to update the firmware version, successfully updated to the 247 version, and then see if the charging performance has changed this time. The following uses apple 20W PD charger with MagSafe charger to charge the iPhone.

Comparison of the charging process of the three firmwares
It seems that the charging power is a little reduced, and then look at the firmware update, whether the whole process of charging the iPhone is faster.
First of all, let's review the performance of the 174 firmware upgrade throughout the charging process.
Charging the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the voltage is maintained at 9V, the high power is maintained to 1 hour and 15 minutes, and then the ladder drops to 9.6W, and 1 hour and 38 minutes enter the trickle charging mode, which takes 2 hours and 25 minutes.
Charging the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the voltage is also 9V throughout the process, and the high power is maintained for 1 hour and 12 minutes, and then the power continues to drop, and the whole process takes 3 hours and 5 minutes.
Next, take a look at the three firmware versions of the MagSafe charger for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Under the original 171 firmware, the charger maintained a high power time of 2 hours and 2 minutes for charging the mobile phone, and the whole process took 2 hours and 40 minutes.
After updating to the 174 firmware, the charging voltage did not change much, but the current began to fluctuate in the form of PWM, and the power repeatedly jumped across the 11-16W for the first 1 hour and 15 minutes, then reduced to 9.6W, lasted until 1 hour and 38 minutes, and then entered the trickle charging mode, which took 2 hours and 25 minutes.

The performance of the iPhone 13 Pro Max is to pull the crotch, so how does the charging performance on the iPhone 12 Pro Max perform?
Under the 171 firmware, the MagSafe charger also takes PWM-style power adjustment for charging the mobile phone, the power is repeatedly adjusted at 11-18W, and the second half of the power cliff adjustment is suspected to be the frequency reduction caused by heat, and the charging process takes 3 hours and 30 minutes.
After upgrading to the 174 firmware, the charging curve of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is significantly smoother, and there will be no power cliff drop in the second half, and the charging process takes 3 hours and 5 minutes.
Similar to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the peak charging power of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is also limited to about 12W, the power curve is quite straight, and the charging time is reduced, taking 2 hours and 43 minutes.
The power curves of the three firmwares are organized into a graph, which is different from the performance on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the charging performance of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is more gentle in the first half, but the second half begins to exert power, and the whole process takes the least time in the three versions of firmware.
Temperature testing
Now that the peak charging power has been reduced, will the heat performance change? The entire test was carried out in a 25°C incubator.
The MagSafe charger of the 247 firmware charger charges the iPhone 13 Pro Max at a time point of 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the maximum temperature of the charger is about 39.3 °C throughout the test, and the highest temperature of the charger is about 39.3 °C.
The 247 firmware's MagSafe charger charges the iPhone 12 Pro Max at 1 hour and 29 minutes in time, at which time the high power transitions from medium to low power throughout the test. The maximum temperature of the MagSafe charger is about 38.4°C.
