01

Iconography Art Exhibition

Shandong is the place where ancient Chinese Buddhist culture and art flourished. During the Yongping period of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Buddhism was officially introduced from ancient India to China, and artistic images related to Buddhism began to appear in the portrait stones of Shandong in the late Eastern Han Dynasty.

In 351 AD, the famous monk Lang Gong established langgong temple in the Jinyu Valley of Kunrui Mountain near Jinan, which is now the Licheng Shentong Temple in Jinan, which is the earliest surviving ancient temple in Shandong. Shandong Buddhism has gone through three important periods of development: the Northern Dynasty, the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the Northern Song Dynasty. The continuous integration of Buddhism and Qilu culture in the Northeast of Shanxi Province has created a statue style with local characteristics, which is unique in the history of Chinese Buddhist statue art.

Write at the end

The I Ching has a saying: "Rigidity and softness are intertwined, and astronomy is also; civilization ends, and humanities are also." Look at astronomy, observe the changes of time, look at humanities, and transform into the world. "The history and culture of our hometown is the root of each of us. To find, to feel, to recognize this hot land that nourishes our growth may be the most urgent cultural experience for our contemporaries. Don't forget where you come from, in order to see the starry sky.

That's all for today's weekend sharing, thanks to the readers!
