Cervical cancer is the first major malignant tumor of china's female reproductive system, HPV vaccination can effectively prevent cervical cancer, WHO recommends that women complete HPV vaccination before the age of 15. This year, Chengdu actively applied to become the first batch of pilot cities for the comprehensive prevention and control of cervical cancer in China.

On November 15, the Chengdu Municipal Health Commission, together with the Municipal Education Bureau and the Municipal Finance Bureau, officially issued a document announcing that from December 2021, the HPV vaccination work for female students aged 13-14 years old in 23 districts (cities) and counties in the city will be launched, and the HPV vaccination work will be independently selected among the bivalent and quadrivalent HPV vaccines, and the HPV vaccination unit where the school is located will implement HPV vaccination and give a vaccination subsidy of 600 yuan per person.

It is understood that bivalent and quadrivalent vaccines can effectively prevent HPV virus, of which quadrivalent can not only prevent HPV virus, but also better prevent diseases such as genital warts. There are more than 100 subtypes of HPV known clinically, of which 13 are high-risk HPV subtypes listed as "high risk" by the World Health Organization (WHO), and only high-risk hpv is associated with cervical cancer. The average infection rate of high-risk HPV in Chinese women has reached 19%, which means that on average, 1 infection per 5 women. In addition to the high-risk HPV that causes cervical cancer, low-risk HPV is also very troublesome, which can cause 90% of genital warts, and patients need repeated treatment, whether physically or mentally, they are under great pressure and distress. Therefore, getting the HPV vaccine as soon as possible is a good self-protection measure for women.
In China, there are two peaks of HPV infection in women, one is 17-24 years old, one is 40-44 years old, and adolescent women are the peak population of HPV infection. Therefore, we should actively carry out health education, promote the correct concept of prevention, and encourage more adolescent women to get the HPV vaccine as soon as possible.
