In October 1946, Pi Dingjun led his troops to compete with the reorganized 74th Division of the Nationalist Army in Lianshui, Jiangsu Province. Pi Dingjun sent a machine gun squad to guard the ancient tower south of the county town, personally inspected it, and the machine gun squad leader who guarded the tower did not know Pi Dingjun, saw that he was rustic, thought he was a man, and began to complain to him, saying: "How did the old donkey Pi think of letting us go to the tower and die?" Our fate is not our destiny? ”
Pi Dingjun was not angry either, and said with a smile: "You scold casually, I will not tell Pi Lao Donkey." ”

When the squad leader heard it, this person was Brigadier Pi Dingjunpi? Frightened, he quickly knelt down, but Pi Dingjun grabbed him and said, "You are right, and Pi Old Donkey apologizes to you." The squad leader was touched and cried, "Please rest assured, brigade commander, we will complete the task!" Even the sacrifice is worth it! ”

In 1969, Pi Dingjun became the commander of the Lanzhou Military Region, and in the winter, he found that the ventilation of the heating equipment was not good, and several young soldiers were poisoned to death, so he decided to go to the grass-roots level to find a solution.
Someone advised him: "This kind of small thing does not need you to go out personally, let the people below do it." Pi Dingjun narrowed his eyes and said, "Small things? Which of these poisoned warriors has no parents? Is a warrior's life a small thing? ”
Pi Dingjun personally ran to the grassroots level and finally found a solution, and there were no more incidents of soldier poisoning.
Another time, when a young soldier died in an accident while shooting a target, Pi Dingjun was very distressed, held a special meeting, and said loudly: "This is typical bureaucracy!" I don't take the warrior's life seriously, which makes me how to explain it to the warrior's parents! ”
Pi Dingjun ordered the division commander of the division to personally carry the coffins of the sacrificed soldiers, and the political commissar of the division personally recited the eulogy and held a solemn memorial meeting.
Someone reminded him: "The division commander and the political commissar are all old eighth roads, so toss them around, how will they behave in the future?" Just let them write a copy of the check. ”
Pi Dingjun listened, the fire became even bigger, and said: "Let them carry the coffin to read the eulogy is to let them know that everyone has parents, and whose children are not distressed when they die!" They don't want to carry it too, I'll go! ”
Since then, the division has not had any accidents.
Pi Dingjun is most unaccustomed to leading cadres engaging in special features, and should not say anything about human life, even in ordinary life, it is absolutely not allowed to engage in special features.
When Pi Dingjun was the commander of the Fuzhou Military Region, he once went down to inspect the troops, and in the evening the troops arranged to watch a program, and Pi Dingjun also gladly went there.
The show started at 8 o'clock, and the soldiers finished dinner and went early to wait. However, 8 o'clock has arrived, and the program has not yet started, Pi Dingjun asked the deputy division commander who accompanied him: "When the time comes, why hasn't it started yet?" ”
The deputy division commander said: "The division commander and the political commissar have not yet arrived, and they will start when they arrive." ”
Pi Dingjun was furious when he heard this, and shouted, "You tell the warriors to obey the time, but you are the leaders but do not obey the time. "After saying that, get up and go."
The deputy division commander hurried to find the division commander and the political commissar, and the division commander and the political commissar were also very frightened, and rushed to the place where Pi Dingjun lived, but no one dared to go in, so they stood outside. Pi Dingjun knew they were outside and wouldn't open the door for them.
The next night, the troops arranged another program, which also began at 8 o'clock, but this time the division commander and the political commissar passed early, and when 8 o'clock arrived, the program began on time.
Pidingdu has a motto:
"If the Son does not teach, the Father is at fault; the soldier does not teach, and the official is at fault."
