One day in mid-July 1929, Xu Shiyou's service soldiers were killed in this battle. A year later, Xu Shiyou was transferred to the Red 25th Division, while Chen Haisong remained in the Red 12th Division, and the two were separated. Shortly thereafter, Chen Haisong went down to the combat company, and because of his bravery in combat and good use of strategy, he was soon promoted to the instructor of the machine gun company. At the end of 1932, the Sichuan warlord Tian Songyao mobilized nearly 60,000 troops from 38 regiments to launch a three-way siege against the Red Fourth Front. The Red Army rose up to resist and, after nearly three months of bitter fighting, finally repelled the enemy. Chen Haisong also made many achievements in this counter-siege and was appointed by his superiors as the political commissar of the Red 25th Division. At this time, the commander of the Red 25th Division was Xu Shiyou, which happened at the beginning of this article. Chen Haisong also recognized Xu Shiyou, rushed forward to hold his hand and even called the old battalion commander, seeing that Chen Haisong had progressed so fast, Xu Shiyou was also very happy.
Later, Xu Shiyou was promoted to deputy commander of the Red 9 Army, and Chen Haisong was appointed political commissar of the Red 9 Army, when he was not yet 21 years old, thus becoming the most experienced military cadre in the history of the Red Army. After the three main forces of the Red Army met the division, Chen Haisong led his troops to participate in the Western Route Army, and died heroically in the bloody battle between Liyuankou and Majiajun, at the age of 23.
