The world's first SMS auction, 5G messaging technology leader Huawei ZTE can bid

According to the Daily Mirror, the world's first text message "MERRY CHRISTMAS" was sent out in December 1992, and now the 14-letter text message will be auctioned for £170,000.

The world's first SMS auction, 5G messaging technology leader Huawei ZTE can bid

Participants can bid through cryptocurrencies for an estimated price of £170,000. Upon successful bidding, the buyer will receive a digital file including the contents of the SMS, sender and recipient information, and will have exclusive rights to the file. Vodafone said the proceeds from the auction would be used for charity.

A few comments:

1. Blockchain provides conditions for such digital asset auctions.

2. The purpose of public welfare is to facilitate the premise of such auctions.

3. 170,000 pounds, equivalent to about 1.44 million yuan, is not a huge expense for Huawei, ZTE, Xiaomi, and Honor, which are actively exploring the global (especially the European market).

4. If Huawei and ZTE bid, they can interpret a story from "the world's first SMS" to "5G new news" technology leaders.

5, the domestic "5G news" has been thunderous, rain is small, the fundamental reason is that the operator has not figured out several facts:

(1) "5G messaging" is not an upgraded SMS, but a new revolution, an alternative to traditional SMS services by Internet interaction methods, just like the replacement of Internet video for traditional TV broadcasting. It's time for operators to give up SMS revenue outright (many overseas carriers have unlimited sms in their home countries).

(2) The former Fetion and Yixin (later changed to "EasySin" in cooperation with NetEase) are all independent operations, and "5G messaging" should go further, but in fact, the current promotion of "5G messaging" is more like traditional telecommunications services (that is, SMS value-added), relying more on local operators.

(3) Beware of partners promoting "5G messaging" into an upgraded version of the "commercial SMS publishing platform", which has no prospects.
