Shen Bujian was one of the representative figures of legalist thought in the Warring States period (the three major schools of legal thought in the Warring States period, Shang martingale heavy law, prudent to heavy potential, and Shen Bu harmful heavy technique), born in 385 BC, died in 337 BC. Shen Bu harm was originally a Zheng guoren, and after Korea destroyed Zheng Guo, Shen Bu Harm relied on his talents to be reused by Han Zhaohou and became the Korean minister.
South Korea is the weakest of the Seven Heroes of the Warring States, and it is in the land of four wars, and it can only survive in the cracks, coupled with the fact that before Han Zhaohou succeeded to the throne, The domestic politics of Korea was chaotic, the laws and decrees were inconsistent, and the group of subjects and officials were at a loss, so in 362 BC, the Korea inherited by Han Zhaohou was simply a mess.
In the face of such a mess, after 15 years of unremitting efforts, Shen Buxi, "internal cultivation of politics and religion, external response to the princes", and the implementation of the "art" rule of the legalists, finally strengthened the absolute monarchy of Korea, stabilized the domestic political situation, restricted the privileges of the nobility, and gradually enriched the lives of the people. It can be seen that Shin is not harmful to South Korea. But even so, Shen Buxian once made a request to Han Zhaohou, but Han Zhaohou refused in person. What was Shen Buxi's request to Han Zhaohou?
Shen Zi tried to ask Shi Qi's subordinate brother, ZhaoHou did not allow it, and Shen Zi had a grudge. Zhao Hou said: "He who learns from his son wants to rule the country." Will he now listen to the Son's curse and abolish the son's skill, and have already done the son's skill and abolish the son's please? The Son has tried to teach the widow to cultivate merit, and regard the graded stages; now that there is a private request, I will listen to it? Shen Zi was a man who asked for sin: "Junzhen qi ren!" ”

The Shen Zi mentioned in this passage of the Zizhi Tongjian is Shen Bu Harm. Shin wanted to get his cousin a half-job in Korea, so he made a request to Han Zhaohou. This request was not too big to be credited to South Korea, and it was supposed that Han Zhaohou should agree to it, but unexpectedly, Han Zhaohou not only disagreed, but also refused Shen Zhaohou's request in person.
Shen Buxian was very unhappy, and Han Zhaohou said to him, "The reason why I asked you for advice is to govern the country well. Now do I approve your private invitation to destroy the law you have created, or do I impose your law and reject your private request? You once taught me to be rewarded according to merit, but now you have a private request, what kind of opinion should I listen to? ”
When Shen Buxian heard Han Zhaohou say this, he quickly got up and asked Han Zhaohou for his guilt, saying, "You are really the wise monarch I hope to serve!" ”
Orders are prohibited, and rewards and punishments are clear, which is the "technique" of Shen's harmlessness, and it is also the reason why Han Zhaohou refused to do harm to Shen. On the one hand, Shen Bu harmed the formulation of a system, suggesting that Han Zhaohou should clearly distinguish rewards and punishments, and on the other hand, he should destroy the system of clear rewards and punishments because of selfish interests, which is tantamount to attacking his own shield with his own spear - the contradiction is very much!
Shen's self-contradictory act of not harming reflects the flaw in his "technical" thinking, that is, "one word is right and the world is determined, and one word is dependent on the world." "Technique" is indefinite, and its realization requires strict self-discipline of law enforcers. If the law enforcers can discipline themselves, the country will be more prosperous; on the contrary, the country will fall into chaos and the people will suffer.
It is precisely for this reason that Shen Buxi's change of law in Korea is far inferior to that of Shang Martin in the Qin State, and has failed to fundamentally solve The problem of Korea. The Shang martingale transformation method had continuity, but the Shen Bu Harm transformation law was not implemented for a long time, so in the late Han Zhaohou period, Korea soon declined again.
In addition, by the way: unlike Shang Martin's strict self-discipline and strict law enforcement, Shen Bu harmed this person who was better at power change, and his ideas also provided a theoretical basis for some people to engage in conspiracies and tricks. However, in terms of its impact on history, Shen bu is far less harmful than Shang Martingale. Why? Worth pondering.
