The Shen Zi mentioned in this passage of the Zizhi Tongjian is Shen Bu Harm. Shin wanted to get his cousin a half-job in Korea, so he made a request to Han Zhaohou. This request was not too big to be credited to South Korea, and it was supposed that Han Zhaohou should agree to it, but unexpectedly, Han Zhaohou not only disagreed, but also refused Shen Zhaohou's request in person.

Shen Buxian was very unhappy, and Han Zhaohou said to him, "The reason why I asked you for advice is to govern the country well. Now do I approve your private invitation to destroy the law you have created, or do I impose your law and reject your private request? You once taught me to be rewarded according to merit, but now you have a private request, what kind of opinion should I listen to? ”

When Shen Buxian heard Han Zhaohou say this, he quickly got up and asked Han Zhaohou for his guilt, saying, "You are really the wise monarch I hope to serve!" ”

Orders are prohibited, and rewards and punishments are clear, which is the "technique" of Shen's harmlessness, and it is also the reason why Han Zhaohou refused to do harm to Shen. On the one hand, Shen Bu harmed the formulation of a system, suggesting that Han Zhaohou should clearly distinguish rewards and punishments, and on the other hand, he should destroy the system of clear rewards and punishments because of selfish interests, which is tantamount to attacking his own shield with his own spear - the contradiction is very much!

Shen's self-contradictory act of not harming reflects the flaw in his "technical" thinking, that is, "one word is right and the world is determined, and one word is dependent on the world."
