During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, 2,660 kilometers of new expressways were built in Anhui

On the morning of December 16, the reporter learned from the press conference of the Anhui Provincial Government that from the completion and opening of the first expressway in our province in 1991 to the highway in each county today, the highway mileage of the province has exceeded 5,000 kilometers, and the development of expressways in our province has achieved a historic leap. This means that any county or city in the province can drive into the highway within 30 minutes.

According to Zhang Houzhong, a first-level inspector of the Department of Transportation of Anhui Province, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the construction of expressways in Anhui Province will focus on penetration, encryption and expansion, build 2660 kilometers of new expressways, renovate and expand 637 kilometers of expressways, comprehensively build a smooth and efficient highway network, realize the "county-level expressway", and effectively support the in-depth implementation of national strategies such as the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and the rise of the central region.

By 2025, the total length of expressways in the province will reach 6800 kilometers, the density of the road network will reach 4.85 kilometers per 100 square kilometers, the national highways in the territory will be fully penetrated, the main passage capacity of the expressway will be greatly improved, the main channel of the yangtze river delta and the Hefei metropolitan area will be connected to achieve eight-lane traffic, and the interprovincial exit will reach 42, of which 20 will be connected to the interprovincial exits of the Yangtze River Delta, and the "five vertical and ten horizontal" highway network will be basically completed, covering more extensively, the connection will be more efficient, and the development of the expressway will take a new step.

By 2035, the total planned mileage of expressways in the province will be 10,165 kilometers, which will form a "five vertical and ten horizontal" expressway network, basically realize "cities have ring lines, counties and districts have double lines, key towns have full coverage, important nodes are fully connected, and major channels are fully expanded", and the service capacity of expressway corridors connecting Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang in the east and Eyugan in the west will be effectively improved, fully supporting the construction of a transportation power and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
