As of November, 25 airports in China have established data exchange and docking with the baggage public information platform, and more than 1.42 million pieces of luggage on 59,000 flights have been tracked throughout the process.
Liang Nan, director of the Transportation Department of the Civil Aviation Administration, said that the phenomenon of wrong transportation, leakage, loss and damage of checked baggage has always been a blockage and pain point for passengers. In order to improve passengers' experience in baggage service protection and make passengers more assured of checked baggage, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has listed "improving the ability to track the whole process of baggage" as one of the important tasks of "learning the history of the party and doing practical things" this year, and actively applies new technologies such as RFID (radio frequency identification tracking technology) to promote the implementation of full-process baggage tracking, so that passengers can easily obtain baggage information in a timely manner on mobile terminals such as mobile phones.
In addition, a series of innovative applications for improving the informatization of checked baggage have emerged in the civil aviation industry: Air China and Capital Airport have tried to apply the results of the whole process of baggage tracking to the baggage protection work of the Winter Olympic Games; Shenzhen Airport and Daxing Airport have applied baggage tracking technology to provide passengers with "baggage to door" services; And China Southern Airlines has obtained the "full network certification" of IATA baggage tracking, further enhancing the brand image of Chinese airlines.
