6 railway lines, 3 directions, more than 200 trains per day... This is a railway "crossroads" on the busy Beijing-Guangzhou Line. On average, staff receive one phone call every 2 minutes and direct north-south passenger and freight trains to ensure their safe and efficient passage.

"Z168 times, Hankou line passed!" On the morning of December 14, a reporter from Jimu News saw that the line occupancy status on the computer screen was displayed in white at the Hankou line under the jurisdiction of the Wuhan Railway Station, indicating that the railway could be passed. For train drivers, this is the "green light" through which the train can pass.

Li Min, the person in charge of the line, issued instructions to the upcoming direct express train through the railway's special dispatch telephone. Five minutes later, a green car from the direction of Wuchang rumbled past the line.

The reporter learned that the line is equivalent to the "crossroads" on the railway line, the Hankou line is located on the Beijing-Guangzhou line in the Wuhan area, connecting the Handan Line and Hankou Station, and more than 200 passenger and freight trains enter and exit the Beijing-Guangzhou line every day, which need to be dispatched and commanded by the Hankou line. "Priority is given to the passage of buses, and if a truck comes at the same point in time, we will let the truck wait at the nearest station."

During the interview, the reporter noticed that in the small office, the telephone ringtone and the dispatch password sound were almost uninterrupted, and an average of one phone call was answered every two minutes. There is a small screen on the dedicated dispatch telephone, and the commonly used numbers have been saved as shortcut keys, which can be directly dialed with a single click of the mouse, which is more convenient and efficient.

According to the staff, the receiving train has a set of standardized operating procedures to ensure that a train passes, and an average of four or five calls are received. For example, if a train leaves an adjacent station, the attendant will receive a call to announce that the driver and the station will also need to be notified after the signal is opened for the train.

"Our work requires a high degree of mental concentration, verbal instructions, mouse operation, and no mistakes." Wang Hao, the duty officer, told reporters that he has been working in this post for more than 20 years, regardless of holidays.
