The West (An) Shi (Yan) high-speed railway is one of the 8 channels planned and constructed by the national "National Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Network Planning Outline", and an important part of the Fuzhou (Zhou) Yin (Sichuan) high-speed railway from Wuhan to Xi'an, starting from Xi'an City in Shaanxi Province in the west, crossing the Qinling Mountains to the southeast, passing through Shangluo, and finally to Shiyan City, Hubei Province, Hubei set up Yunxi, Shiyan East and other stations, in Shiyan East Station and the Hanshi high-speed railway opened to traffic in November 2019, forming another rapid railway passenger corridor from Xi'an to Wuhan.

According to reports, the West Ten High-speed Railway from Xi'an East Railway Station, through Shangluo, Yunyang to Shiyan East, the project new main line with a total length of 255.76 kilometers, the design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Among them, 169.4 kilometers in Shaanxi Province, 86.36 kilometers in Hubei Province, and the total investment in Hubei Section is 13.4 billion yuan.
In November 2021, the West 10th High-speed Railway obtained preliminary design approval for the whole line, completed the construction bidding at the end of November, and has the conditions for the start of the whole line, with a planned construction period of 54 months, and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2026.
According to reports, the proportion of bridges and tunnels in the hubei section of the West Ten High-speed Railway is 98.85%, the geological conditions are complex, the construction safety risk is high, the main bad geology is dangerous rock falling rock, rock pile, slope down the slope, landslide, staggered, mud flow, gas, mud, water inrush, collapse, block drop, karst, rock burst and soft rock deformation, etc., and along the line involves the Han River Basin, a number of drinking water source protection areas, Yunyang Wetland Provincial Nature Reserve, Yunyang National Geopark, etc., in environmental protection, water conservation and other aspects of the construction put forward extremely high requirements.
China Railway Eleventh Bureau Group undertakes to build the West 10 high-speed railway 1 standard, the main line length of 28.14 km, of which the tunnel length totals 23 km / 9, the length of the bridge totals 4.1 km / 11, of which the Hanjiang Special Bridge is a full-line control project, the main span adopts the form of a 420-meter cable-stayed bridge structure, the tower height is 189 meters, is the first high-speed rail cable-stayed bridge with beam truss combination structure in China, the technology is complex, and the construction is difficult The maximum bridge height of ShendingHe Special Bridge is 108.7 meters, which is the highest pier in the whole line, the main span of the continuous beam is 160 meters, which is the largest span of the whole line, the Luojialiang No. 2 Tunnel, which is 7.37 kilometers long, and the Friendship Tunnel, which is 6.5 kilometers long, have complex geological conditions and difficult construction, and are all difficult projects of the whole line.
After the completion and opening of the West 10 high-speed railway, Shiyan to Xi'an will arrive within 1 hour, and Wuhan to Xi'an will arrive in about 2 hours. It is of great significance for implementing the national development strategies such as the "Yangtze River Economic Belt" and the "Great Development of the Western Region" and the construction of the "Belt and Road", strengthening the connection between the central Yangtze River urban agglomeration and the Guanzhong Plain urban agglomeration, improving the layout of the national high-speed railway network, revitalizing the economy of the Qinba Mountainous Area, and accelerating tourism and social and economic development along the route.
