Snooker 丨 Yan Bingtao temporarily ranked 16th in a single season, striving for a place in the Players Championship

Bressell beat John Higgins 9-5 in the Scottish Open final, with a £70,000 championship prize money lifting him from fourth to second place in a single season, with British Champion Zhao Xintong in first place in a single season.

Scottish Open runner-up Higgins received £30,000 in prize money and rose from fifth to fourth in a single season. Ronnie O'Sullivan reached the semifinals, lifting the Rockets from tenth to seventh. Another semi-finalist, Anthony McGill, also jumped from twenty-second to fourteenth.

This week's World Grand Prix will be contested by the top 32 players in the single-season prize money rankings. A total of eight players were shortlisted for this week's World Grand Prix outside the 32nd overall prize list but relied on their single-season performances: Jimmy Robertson, Mark King, Andy Hicks, Cao Yupeng, Anthony Hamilton, Noppen Sankam, Hussein Wafi and Ben Wollaston.

The top 16 players in a single season can participate in the Players' Championship, which will take place at Wolverhampton from 7 to 13 February 2022. After this week's World Grand Prix, there are two ranking tournaments, the Single Time Limited Time Tournament and the German Masters, to be held in January next year. Yan Bingtao is currently 16th with a single season of 45,500 pounds, and whether he will be able to retain the players' championship seat is not yet known.

The prize money for the World Grand Prix is distributed as follows:

Winner: £100,000

Runner-up: £40,000

Semi-final: £20,000

Quarter-finals: £12,500

Round of 16: £7500

Round of 32: £5,000 (first round losses still count towards the rankings).

Highest single score: £10,000

Total prize money: £380,000

The final stop of the "Red Packet Tournament" is the Tour Championship in Llandudno, Wales, from 28 March to 3 April 2022, which will be played by players in the top eight in a single season.

In the total prize money ranking, Bressel climbed from 18th to 15th, but unfortunately the Masters ranking was only calculated until the end of the British Championship, causing Bressel to miss the Masters qualification. Higgins moved up from seventh to sixth and Mark Selby remained in first place, leading Judd Trump by £43,000.

In the BetVictor Series rankings, Higgins finished three times (Northern Ireland Open, English Open and Scottish Open) with a total of £90,000 in prize money. There are also five races in the series, and at the end of all eight series, the top runner in the series will receive an additional £150,000. Bressell was second in the series prize table with £84,000, followed by Neil Robertson at £74,000 and Mark Allen in fourth with £70,000. It can be seen that the competition for the huge prizes in the series is also becoming white-hot, and it may not be until the Gibraltar Open next March to finally see the score.
