Flying Propeller is Baidu's deep learning open source platform, launched in 2019, and is also the first industry-grade deep learning platform independently developed in China. At the first Deep Learning Developer Summit in April 2019, Wang Haifeng proposed that deep learning promotes artificial intelligence to enter the stage of industrial production, and the deep learning framework is connected to the chip and the application is inherited, which is equivalent to the "operating system in the intelligent era". On December 12, Feipao released the latest ten latest developments, including the new panorama of Feipao, the co-creation plan of Feipao "Great Navigation" 2.0, and the industry's first industrial practice sample library.
In Wang Haifeng's view, "deep learning has promoted artificial intelligence into the stage of industrial large-scale production." The AI large-scale production platform for technology and industrial development needs can enable AI technology to be exported to thousands of industries in a standardized, automated and modular manner, and realize large-scale application. Based on the observation and thinking on the development of AI technology and application, Wang Haifeng believes that at present, artificial intelligence presents the characteristics of "fusion innovation" and "lowering the threshold": on the one hand, there are more and more integration and innovation of AI technology and industry; on the other hand, although AI technology is becoming more and more complex, the threshold for AI development and application is getting lower and lower.
This is due to the increasing prosperity of the AI ecosystem. In the past year, the scale of active AI developers in cities across the country has increased significantly. In various fields such as industry, transportation, energy, and cities, the number of enterprises applying artificial intelligence has shown a scene of blossoming in many places and taking root in multiple industries. According to reports, the flying paddle artificial intelligence industry empowerment center has been built and landed in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiaxing, Fuzhou, Ningbo, Xiangyang, Nanchang and other places, and 15 cities such as the Macao Special Administrative Region and Guangzhou are planning to help the intelligent upgrading of the industry from the three aspects of industrial empowerment, talent training and ecological co-construction.
In addition, Wang Haifeng pointed out that with the deep integration of AI and industry, more and more compound AI talents who understand AI and have industrial experience are needed. The flying propeller platform will also be committed to the cultivation of composite AI talents, unite academia and industry, and open up the positive cycle of production, education and research.
