At the "Amateur Player" new book sharing meeting held recently, the famous writers Shi Yifeng and Ban Yu, the critic Li Weichao, and the author of the book, Meng Xiaoshu, were guests in the one-way space live broadcast room, focusing on "Amateur Player", and deeply explored the lives of contemporary young people and the dreams and ideals they insisted on.

Meng Xiaoshu, born in Beijing, graduated from York University in Canada. He is the author of the short and medium story collection "Full Moon" and so on. He has won the October Literature Award, the 6th West Lake Chinese Literature New Talent Award, and the 2nd "Star of Zhong Shan" Literary Award.

"Amateur Player" is Meng Xiaoshu's latest collection of novels, composed of three stories "Please Cheer for Me", "Amateur Player", and "Cool Beijing", the three stories reflect each other and complement each other, jointly shaping the character image of Sun Chuangchuang, who loves music, is sincere and simple, and is unwilling to compromise on fate. In the three stories, the careers, dreams, and fates of the three protagonists who are also named Sun Chuangchuang are different, and the concept called "Sun Chuangchuang" becomes the sum of some urban youth, covering all the dark hearts and positive desires.

Shi Yifeng believes that Meng Xiaoshu himself retreated to the position of observer in this work, showing the quality of a novelist, "A naked runner is keen to express himself, and the real quality of a novelist is to retreat and let the characters perform." ”

Ban Yu agrees with Shi Yifeng's view that "this collection of novels can be put into a particularly fluid concept, that is, classified into the category of urban literature", "I think they all have a kind of incompleteness, not to say that the completion of the novel is a problem, but the protagonist is very similar to the new prodigal sons in the city, with similar experiences, there are similar feeling structures, and the space it corresponds to is also mixed, with very strong uncertainty." ”

Ban Yu expressed empathy for the "sense of déjà vu" created by Meng Xiaoshu in "Amateur Player". He argues that the common theme of the three stories in Amateur Player is "life in a panic period," "a panic that comes from a sense of rupture, a literary youth, whether you like music, art, or movies, how these people should put themselves in a stable, solid social structure where interests rather than emotions are paramount." ”
