The name Yuan Shikai, presumably everyone is not unfamiliar, he is a figure in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties in China, during the Xinhai Revolution, he forced Puyi to abdicate, thus overthrowing the Qing Dynasty, and also took over the position of Provisional President of the Republic of China by Sun Yat-sen. When Cixi was alive, he swore allegiance to the Qing Dynasty and was bent on currying favor with Empress Dowager Cixi, and after Cixi's death, he became a member of the revolutionary army and fought against the Qing government.
However, Yuan Shikai was also ambitious, after becoming the provisional president of the Republic of China, he was not satisfied, and he vainly wanted to wear a dragon robe to claim the title of emperor and overthrow the hard-earned achievements of the revolutionaries, but the era was not something that he alone could change, not to mention that he wanted to go backwards in history, and under the opposition of all parties, Yuan Shikai's dragon robe was only worn for eighty-three days.
Judging from Yuan Shikai's various behaviors, on the one hand, he promoted the process of modernization and overthrew the rule of the Qing Dynasty, and his contribution to our beautiful life today is also a little contribution; on the other hand, he did not do this for the people, but for his own selfish desires, and he wanted to become the most honorable person in the whole world and make the people subservient to him. All the efforts made by the revolutionaries to overthrow the Qing Dynasty were all nullified, and what he did in order to ascend to the throne of God was even more ridiculous.
Yuan Shikai really did everything in his power for the throne, and even the matter of taking a bath, he could make a fuss about it. After Yuan Shikai ascended to the throne of the great president, he planned to restore the imperial system, but he had no reason to worry about not being able to serve the people, remembering that the ancient emperor would pass on some natural visions and the like in order to take the throne as he should be, so that the people would be convinced; and he also thought that the ancient emperors would call themselves "true dragon heavenly sons".
So every day when he took a bath, he let different people clean the bathtub for him, so every time the next person could see the scales in his bathtub, over time, there were rumors that Yuan Shikai was the "true dragon tianzi", because Yuan Shikai's bathing basin, always found "dragon scales". This rumor caused an uproar among the people, and the people discussed the authenticity of Yuan Shikai's "True Dragon Heavenly Son".
In the early years of the Republic of China, although the Qing Dynasty was overthrown, the ignorance of the people's thinking did not change, and the superstitious thinking was still deeply rooted, and Yuan Shikai took advantage of this to do such a thing. After that, Yuan Shikai said that he obeyed the will of Heaven, wanted to restore, and wore a dragon robe to claim the title of emperor, but this plan did not succeed, and he stayed on the throne for eighty-three days, which is really ridiculous.
At that time, although the people's thinking was still very backward, there were also many young people who made progress in their thinking and no longer believed in these things, and the "dragon scale" thing was even more ridiculous. Yuan Shikai's chef heard the folk arguments and couldn't help but laugh, it turned out that Yuan Shikai asked to eat dragon fish every day, and the reason why people took away the fish scales was this, the chef told others about this fact, and the folk debate about Yuan Shikai's "true dragon tianzi" stopped.
This story has always been regarded as a joke in China, and even the West has heard the story of Yuan Shikai using fish scales to impersonate a dragon, and Yuan Shikai is really humiliated and thrown to foreign countries. The dragon chair did not sit hot, he was driven down, this incident hit him too hard, he died soon after, if he did not claim the title of emperor, maybe not so many people scolded him.
