According to historical records, the Tiananmen Tower was designed and built by Gu Zhixiang. Qu Xiang, born in 1398, was the son of Qu Fu, the "head of carpentry" in the Ming Dynasty. The so-called "carpenter" is one of the carpenters all over the world. His technique ranks first, which shows how good his woodworking skills are.
Qu Xiang learned from his father from an early age. He was very interested in some aspects, so he worked very hard. We know that a great man once said that "interest is the best teacher", and under the stimulation of this strong interest, Qu Xiang's carpentry technology has made great progress. At the age of 16, he was recognized as his skill by carpenters across the country. In addition to his father Kuangfu, he also became a new generation of "carpenter heads".
When Zhu Di, the ancestor of the Ming Dynasty, moved to Beijing in 1417, he first needed a palace suitable for the emperor. As the head of carpentry, Guan Xiang was responsible for designing and presiding over the construction of the main entrance of the palace, which was known as chengtianmen at that time. After the completion of the city gate, Guan Xiang was praised by the emperor and his ministers and praised by the people. It is recognized as the "contemporary Luban", so it is also called Quluban. Later, after the Manchu Qing Dynasty entered the customs, the City Tianmen was renamed Tiananmen, and it still stands.
Ancient China was a society of "learning and excellence" and was not very friendly to craftsmen. But as a craftsman, Qu Xiang, who was able to focus on this field, not only mastered advanced skills, but also made powerful works.
