According to the book, the reconstruction of the Tiananmen Tower was approved by Premier Zhou himself and began on December 15, 1969. The CPC Central Committee and the State Council formed the "Leading Group for the Reconstruction of the Tiananmen Gate Towers" with the participation of the General Staff Department, the Beijing Garrison District, the Beijing Municipal Revolutionary Committee, and other relevant departments.
Undertaking this task is the Beijing Fifth Construction Engineering Company. The company set up the Tiananmen Project Site Command and organized 4 construction companies. The entire project was carried out in extreme secrecy, and the construction team was militarized. All those involved in the project must not disclose the inside story, and they must also keep their families shut.
In order to ensure that the project was carried out in secret, the entire Tiananmen Tower had to be tightly covered with reed mats. The Tiananmen Tower is 66 meters long, 37 meters wide and 32 meters high, and it is difficult to cover this behemoth in its entirety.
During the demolition project, people found the treasure of the town tower hundreds of years ago.
In addition to the brick-concrete structure at the base of the Tiananmen Tower, the entire city tower is a wooden structure, and all power sources are cut off before demolition. It is said that everything in the golden silk nan wooden box is an ancient mascot to avoid evil, and all of them are handed over to the national treasury. When he arrived at the new city tower, Master Yao did not forget to put a contemporary "evil avoidance object" in the original place of the "treasure box". He carefully prepared a 17 cm high, 12 cm wide, 3 cm thick White Jade stone, on which was engraved vertically with the words "Reconstruction from January to March 1970", and affixed with gold leaf, dazzling and bright. Master Yao carefully inserted the Han white jade font into the concrete 1/3 facing south. This piece of white jade has become a historical witness to the reconstruction of the Tiananmen Tower in New China.
