In April 2013, at the site of a real estate development project in Hanjiang District, Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, during the foundation earthwork construction phase, an excavator opened a layer of soil that was different in color from other areas, and found two ancient tombs.
The developer immediately stopped further construction and informed the relevant cultural relics departments. Archaeologists entered the site for the first time and began excavations. After more than ten days of rescue excavation, by mid-April, the exploration of Tomb No. 1 was completed, and archaeology had made a major discovery, which was a tomb from the Sui and Tang dynasties, and the burial chamber was basically well preserved.
The biggest discovery is that this is the tomb of Yang Guang, the Sui Dynasty Emperor. Because of the excavation of the epitaph of the "Tombstone of the Late Emperor".
Because the "Sui" on the epitaph is more than the Sui of the "Sui Dynasty", it has also caused heated discussion, and some people doubt the authenticity of the tomb, but with the explanation of experts, the public is confused.
Originally, Yang Jian was named the Duke of Suiguo at the earliest, and only after the establishment of the Sui Dynasty did he gradually go to the bottom of the word. However, the Sui Dynasty was relatively short, and after the death of the Sui Dynasty, in many later historical materials, the Sui and Sui dynasties actually had a mixed situation.
But that's not the end surprise. After Tomb No. 2 was cleared, it was a real surprise. Because the owner of Tomb No. 2 was Empress Xiao, the wife of the Sui Emperor.
This discovery confirms a period of history, according to the Book of Sui, after the death of the Sui Emperor, Xiao Hou, who was nearly sixty years old, took her young grandson and was surrounded by the rebels Yu Wenhua, Dou Jiande and others, and eventually exiled to the Eastern Turks.
It was not until the fourth year of Tang Zhenguan that Li Jing destroyed the Eastern Turks and took Xiao Hou back to Chang'an, and when he returned, he had long been a man and died within a few years. Emperor Taizong of Tang pitied Xiao Hou and had an opportunity in his later years, so he ordered that he be buried with Emperor Zhao with the empress ceremony.
Because it is the specification of the emperor's tomb, many precious cultural relics have been excavated from the tomb, and the excavation is of great significance to the historical research of the Sui Dynasty. For example, at present, the only one in China that is the most complete is the three-ring gold and jade belt; the only physical object in the Sui and Tang Dynasties in China - a complete set of copper chimes, copper chimes, and so on.
So far, there doesn't seem to be a historically surprising coincidence. However, we know that the Sui Emperor Yang Guang was not originally a prince, and it turned out that the prince of the Sui Dynasty was Yang Yong. Yang Guang's brother seized power and became the crown prince.
Returning to the beginning of the article, the name of the real estate developer who excavated the tomb of the Sui Dynasty Emperor happened to be Yang Yong.
More than 1,000 years later, this coincidence is staggering. It seems to be predestined again.
