Volkswagen announced future electrification plans, including trinity projects related to autonomous driving. Volkswagen announced on December 9 that by 2026, a quarter of the cars it plans to sell will be pure electric vehicles, and Volkswagen has also announced an investment plan.

Volkswagen will invest around €21 billion in the electrification of plants in Lower Saxony, such as Wolfsburg, Hanover, Braunschweig, Salzgitter, Osnabrück and Emden.

The Wolfsburg plant will seriously implement the Trinity project from 2026 to develop technology for next-generation electric vehicle platforms with L4 level autonomous driving technology, and explore innovative and competitive next-generation pure electric vehicles.

In response to the growing demand for electric vehicles in 2023, it will be retrofitted to handle full-scale production of the Volkswagen ID. series.

The Hanover plant will also be transformed into an electric vehicle production base, producing passenger and cargo Buzz Vans, ID.California Camping Edition, ID.Buzz AD (Autonomous Driving) Edition, MOIA Shuttle.

The plant will also build bodywork for the new EV Bentley models that have yet to be released, with the first Bentley electric vehicles expected to go on production by 2025.

The Volkswagen Group plans to devote around 52 billion euros to the development of electric vehicles and the remaining 30 billion euros to software development.
