Olympic standard construction convenience ice rink "Ice Cube" ice sports center will soon open

Beijing, December 13 (China News Network) -- Today, the reporter learned from the Beijing State-owned Assets Corporation that the "Ice Cube" ice sports center invested and built by it successfully passed the completion acceptance. According to reports, during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympic Games, the "Ice Cube" Ice Sports Center will serve as a sports experience center during the Winter Olympic Games, providing ice project experience services for the public with curling as the core content.

As an important carrier of the National Aquatics Center "Water Ice Conversion" and "Water Ice Two-Wheel Drive", Beijing State-owned Assets Corporation has invested in the construction of the "Ice Cube" Ice Sports Center in the "Water Cube" South Square since 2018, with an overall construction area of about 8,000 square meters, consisting of a standard ice rink of 1,830 square meters and a standard curling field of four 45 meters * 5 meters and supporting service facilities.

The Ice Sports Center is surrounded by the original geomorphological soil and is basically in a constant temperature state, and its standard ice rink is equipped with a large lighting well with a diameter of 13 meters and several light pipes to achieve natural lighting by introducing outdoor light. It is estimated that this lighting method can save about 26,000 kWh of electricity per year.

The construction of the ice sports center is based on building information model technology, combined with cloud computing, Internet of Things, mobile communications and other information technology and equipment, to achieve the intelligent construction of all elements covering progress, quality, safety, cost and other project management, and become a high-quality project that integrates green, wisdom, science, saving and other characteristics.

From October to December this year, the Beijing Winter Olympics International Test Match was held in Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou. Among them, on October 19, the whole-process sports experience test with the theme of "Ice and Snow Event, Ready to Go, Water and Ice Dual Drive and Shared Future" was successfully carried out at the "Ice Cube" Ice Sports Center, and this sports experience test was the first show of the "Ice Cube" Ice Sports Center being completed and put into operation.

According to reports, during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympic Games, the "Ice Cube" Ice Sports Center will serve as a sports experience center during the Winter Olympic Games, providing ice project experience services for the public with curling as the core content.

After the Winter Olympic Games, in order to give full play to the sustainability of the Olympic heritage, the Ice Sports Center will permanently retain the ice function, further play the role of the Winter Olympic Heritage, and become a comprehensive ice project platform integrating the seven functions of ice boutique event holding, public ice fitness, professional ice training, sports tourism landmark, ice performance platform, curling sports promotion, and Winter Olympic cultural base.

After the ice sports center is put into operation, it is expected to receive more than 100,000 ice sports enthusiasts every year, and will become an important venue for promoting ice sports to young people and promoting the integration of winter sports into hundreds of millions of people. (End)
