During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in the last century, many young people actively joined the army in order to defend their families and defend the country. In order to defend the homeland, these young people have paid the price of physical disability and even life. During the battle, some young fighters were unfortunately hit, their bodies were seriously injured, and they could not continue to go to the battlefield, and could only leave the unit in disgrace.

There was a regimental commander in the Red Army named Hou Lixiang, who would go to his hometown to work as a farmer after leaving the Red Army. Sometimes, he would talk to his fellow villagers about his experience in the army. He told his fellow villagers that he had once been the commander of the Red Army and had made many meritorious achievements, but for special reasons, he had lost the materials that could prove his identity.
In the face of Hou Lixiang's words, the villagers did not believe it, only when he was bragging. Some people also think he has a mental problem and says such things. Hou Lixiang was born in 1912, and when he was a child, he once read some books and recognized some words. In 1929, the teenage Hou Lixiang joined the Red Army and often participated in battles. Because of his many military achievements, he was appointed as the head of the regiment by the organization.
In 1939, Hou Lixiang was injured and could no longer participate in the battle due to physical reasons, so he left the Red Army. Hou Lixiang was a straight-standing man, and when he saw that the villagers did not believe what he said, he talked a lot about his own battles. But it backfired, and after listening to Hou Lixiang's combat experience, the villagers still thought he was making things up.
In this way, because of "fabricating combat experience", Hou Lixiang's image in the village became very poor, and no one was willing to take care of him. Later, he offended a local cadre, so he was criticized for fighting during the special period. During this period, his life was very difficult, he could not even eat, and could only eat a full meal and a hungry meal.
Once, when he saw the news of his superior leaders in the newspaper, he wrote a letter reflecting his experience after leaving the Red Army, hoping that the organization would restore his identity. At that time, the mail was not fast, and Hou Lixiang's letter was sent to the superior leadership office after a period of time. In 1974, a commander came forward and verified Hou Lixiang's identity with the local government.
In 1975, the local government restored Hou Lixiang's status according to regulations and provided him with the treatment he deserved. When the villagers heard that Hou Lixiang was really a Red Army, they were ashamed. Some ran to Hou Lixiang's house and apologized to him. They know that their peaceful and stable lives were bought by the bloody battles of the soldiers of the Red Army. Hou Lixiang did not bother with the villagers, and the contradictions between him and the villagers completely disappeared.
