In 1976, China's first optical fiber was born in Wuhan. Today, China has developed into the world's largest manufacturer of optical fiber and cables. Roger: Fiber optic networks are mobile phones and landlines, and the entire network is connected by fiber optics. Therefore, wireless development from 1G to 5G, the demand for the entire optical fiber is also increasing.

In the field of optical fiber and optical cable industry, optical fiber preforms have always been the core field. Due to the high technical barriers, for a long time, the production process has been in the hands of a small number of developed country enterprises. After Roger came to Changfei Company, he led the team to set up a project team and began to research and develop a new generation of preform large-scale production technology with independent intellectual property rights.

After three years of hard work, in 2004, Roger's team finally overcame the global industry problem of PCVD preparation of low-water peak optical fiber, and Changfei took the lead in successfully developing low-water peak optical fiber in China, and applied it to optical network construction on a large scale.

Roger: The optical fiber of the trunk line, the optical fiber used in the metropolitan area network with low water peak later, and then the anti-bending fiber used in the fiber-to-the-home access network, is every product developed by our entire team, which can be quickly applied to the construction of our country's communication network on a large scale.

Breaking down technical barriers and standing at the top of the industry, Roger is most emotional about the improvement of global technical discourse power. Itu-T, the International Telecommunication Union(IU-T), is the authoritative international standards organization for the development of standards for communication products. Since 2008, Roger has experienced from "listening to foreign experts formulate standards" to "being responsible for the formulation of some standards himself".

Roger: There are about 10 fiber standards in ITU-T, and we are now undertaking the standard development of 4 fibers.
