More than 100 disabled people from both sides of the Taiwan Straits, representatives of organizations for the disabled, experts and scholars from colleges and universities on both sides of the Strait, and caring people from all walks of life gathered together to carry out on-site exchanges and discussions and interactions on topics such as the construction of a barrier-free environment, the construction of a social integration system for the disabled, and the construction of a social support system for the disabled. On December 10th, the "13th Straits Forum • 2021 Cross-Strait Disabled Persons Exchange Carnival" hosted by the China Disabled Persons' Federation, organized by the Fujian Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation, the Xiamen Disabled Persons' Federation and the China Disability Development Research Center of Xiamen University, and co-organized by five disabled persons' organizations in Taiwan and disability assistance organizations, was held in Xiamen.

In his speech, Lu Shiming, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and vice chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, encouraged friendly exchanges between the disabled on both sides of the strait. He said that the two sides of the strait are interdependent and linked by blood, and he hopes that everyone can overcome the impact of the epidemic, use the "cloud" channel, continue to deepen exchanges, and strengthen cross-strait interaction in the cause of the disabled.

Lin Zheng, former acting chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang, delivered a speech for the event via video. He said: This activity has invited disabled people, representatives of organizations, experts and scholars from the grass-roots and nongovernmental organizations on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to xiamen City, which is sunny and has always cared for the disabled, which is very meaningful and will certainly enhance the well-being of the disabled on both sides of the strait.

Zheng Jianmin, vice governor of Fujian Province, said that Fujian Province has always attached great importance to the development of the cause of the disabled, introduced a series of policies to support the disabled and assist the disabled, and strived to improve the people's livelihood security system for the disabled, promote the all-round development and common prosperity of the disabled, and significantly increase the enthusiasm of the majority of disabled friends to participate in social life. It is hoped that the two sides of the strait will give full play to the role of the "Cross-Strait Carnival for Exchanges with Persons with Disabilities" as a special brand and exchange and cooperation platform, and work together to further promote cross-strait exchanges, exchanges, and integration, and realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
