You may not have heard of terradyne Gurkha LAPV, which was built on the chassis of the Ford F-450 Super Duty and was originally designed for law enforcement use.
However, this particular model, which is currently auctioned through Collecting Cars in Ontario, Canada, is designated as a civilian model.
The Gurkha-style bodywork has a B4 armor rating, which has a lighter body panel than most, making it more suitable for civilian use. It also features matte granite ash for a tactical look.
The front of the car is dominated by angular lines, black double hooks and simple round headlights. The hood is also angular, and the Gurkha features a narrow windshield, while its wheels are 20 inches with off-road tires. If you're the kind of person who's afraid of zombie apocalypse, this is exactly the vehicle you need.
The list notes that Terradyne's off-road kit has also been installed, adding Fox shock absorbers, a 16,500-pound winch, a front differential lock and an on-board high-output air compressor.
In terms of power, it is equipped with a 6.7-liter V8 engine that can produce 330 horsepower and is matched with an automatic transmission. While Gurkha offers 6 seats and comes with a 40-gallon main fuel tank and an 80-gallon secondary fuel tank, heated front seats and windshields, an upgraded Alpine sound system, and a walkie-talkie, many of the internal components are distilled directly from the F-450.
The car has traveled more than 25,000 kilometers (about 15,500 miles) and is currently bidding up to $165,000.
